NSW is flooding big time. For the first time in 14 years Sydney's main water supply dam Waragamba Dam is overflowing. And the wind is easterly.

yep - and a 100km north its going nuts as well!!!! The rain has subsided a bit in the last hour which is nice. Its blowing pretty strong the NE and swell is a good 5 foot but not very clean sadly. Looks like its a no surf day for me - have been working all morning and will probably work until darkness. Hoping that things improve next week and I can spend a few days in the waves whilst most are at work.

The weather map for NZ looks interesting - loads of swell coming from the South on the East Coast - you should be right for swell for the next little while TB. Good luck in the big comp!!!

Some great conditions for your neck of the woods TB

The Captain is heading over your way next week actually - just to Auckland / Hamilton to visit her family and the girls. Not sure when we will be both over that way - I love the idea of a Frog Rock session! I gave her a ticket for xmas....the good news is that I will drop her off at the Airport on Friday morning and then head down the south coast for a long w/e if conditions permit with a few of the lads.

We had the SUPA state titles at Bilinga this morning and of course it was a typical comp' day - 1ft of onshore/sideshore/notsure slop and it was blowing a gale and plssing down as well - good fun though and everyone got a bag full of little waves.

This was Noosa just before 7am.

I must say I am hopeless at reading the tides to determine where to surf

If it looks like high tide and low wind I go Noosa, but I was expecting it to be much higher

When low tide and low wind I explore new beaches.

I think I am being too simplistic with tide assessment. I am not taking into account just how high the high tide is. Without living near one of these places how do you anticipate conditions? I am completely disregarding wave direction as well at this stage.

All takes time I guess

Yeah I know that, but I will need to develop a memory about how high looks like what, then I will change beaches.

Also thanks for the compliment a few posts before.
