Seems to be in a pattern of late where WA gets swell on a Friday!! Has to be the worst cycle there could be.

Mid week is ok to take off but Fridays are dodgy days to be absent from work!

Being a shift worker I surf mainly during the week. I cant wait for the kids to get back to school and the tourists to go home. I had a surf at Manly last week. I'm buggered if I know why you would bother with all those crowds. Good banks there though.

Couple of weeks back I was desperate so I went as far as the Bower looking for something decent, haven't been there in years and I can say for sure that the place is completely farked.

Not the waves, they were good. I mean the area.

For a start all of manly is a 2 hour zone if you're outside of one of the pay to park areas and the headland above the bower was chokas.

The next option is to paddle across the small bay to get out to the point and it makes the Arrawarra paddle look easy.

So if you do manage to get a parking space near the jump in part of the bay, you've got just 2 hours to get there and back, plus try to win a wave before you could possibly score a bluey on your windscreen.

I skedaddled up to my home breaks quick smart.

Yeh parking has been a pain of late around the super bank, waves and sun means good luck snagging a park, saying that I have a secret plan and works 90% of the time[}:)]

On the time limit,Noosa and Byron, you cant park for more than two hours at the Pass and the same at Noosa.

I could not imagine being a local and trying to spent the day at the beach with the family and all you would be doing is watching your clock, man that would suck.

I know the first point guy's have a way around this, but ****** stinks all the same.

You can cover about 3km in 20 minutes, on foot. My feet are my secret weapon at places like Tea Tree Bay....

I'm happy with free parking and Accomm up at Picture Point Crestent, which is at least 2.5km walk into Tea Tree. But a superb walk !!

Regarding "The Bower". Keep in mind that they need to chalk your tyres... Usually, at least 15mins to 1-2 hours will go past before you get chalked. Then, 2hrs & 10mins+ will go past before the ticket guy is back.

So, you have at least 2.5hrs up your sleeve. Realistically, 3hrs is a relatively safe margin in a 2hr zone... especially way out at The Bower.

Used to live in Manly for 5 years, but free parking up at The Bower back then.... and when it was on, I just wouldn't go to work.... rock in there at High Noon with an excuse maybe....

Here's your excuse plan;
1) Had to drop Brother/Relative/Friend/Mum at Airport, and I forgot until they rang me this morning
2) Dentist, sorry I forgot to put it in my diary / work diary / tell my boss, etc
3) In fact Dentist & Doctor is a brilliant excuse. I used to say my teeth are not very good, and I have to go a get a few more fillings. 6 monthly check ups, plus 2 separate filling follow ups.... That gives you a few mornings off... Use your local dentist, say maybe 20-45mins away from work.... earliest appointment 10am + 45mins appointment + 30mins drive.... Buys you till 11:30.....
4) Construction Industry.... had a site visit.... "Oh, didn't I put it in the day book?"
5) Had to meet up with my accountant.....
6) A big storm came through and I had to clean up.

Best of all, you'll come up with a few lame ones.... but it adds a touch of mystery to your scattered surfing persona !!

I guess that depends on what you're carrying in. I wouldnt like to have to carry my 10 footer that far.

I'd agree, at 24" wide my 10'er is just hanging by fingertips.

My 10'6" is 24 1/4" wide and I often have to carry it on my head, I've made this terrific little strap for it from an old riggers harness webbing and an aluminium carry clip from a water bottle.

It makes it super easy to carry on one shoulder, you really only need to use your hand to steady it but on that day there was no where to hide it at the bay because it's all houses and no sand.

If you get a ticket, pull a battery terminal off and call NRMA/RACQ.
keep the receipt and write a letter in to council that you broke down and pushed into the parking area. they will write back asking you for proof of mechanical assistance and POW!

And it was !! two days in a row of absolutely awesome waves. Was a bit crowded this morning with about 10 out but well worth it. Except for some c##ksudker french shortboarder telling me to f#ck off to ze alleee and stop taking all zee waves Worst thing he could have said because up till then I had been quite generous with letting plenty go through - he kinda ruined it for the other shorties by saying that though tomysuckassayama and I made a point of getting our quota up after that before exiting the scene STOKED.

Mate I was letting so many waves go through that an old dude actually asked me why ? I did however take exception to being pulled up for allegedly being a hog so I then got the sh#ts with being the nice guy Tomyhogayama and I are the easiest going longboarders out there trust me - but will not be pushed around by turds who choose to ride the wrong boards for the conditions and take it out on everyone else. FARKEMM.

Did this French dude have a smoken hot girlfriend waiting on the beach for him,if so I would have taken all the next five set waves, paddled in and started a conversation with her just to really p-ss him off

Then say, mate she matches your surfing, disgraceful, walk off and say ,have a nice day
