I have the McTavish 9'1" Fireball evo... which has a 9" centre fin (in a skeg box) and two much smaller side fins... I pushed the centre fin all the way forward and I took the two side fins out after my second or third surf as I was having trouble getting into the fast beach breaks I tend to surf. It does get a slide occasionally, but not too often. If this worries you, then you could always put a bigger centre fin it.

Note that I only ever surf it on 1-2ft days... I'm sure the more regular longboarders can offer a more informed opinion.

I like it. The bottom rails are bevelled in so that they are quite thin... and it has quite a bit of rocker in both the nose and tail... with a single to double concave, so when you get the sweet spot on a wave, it is really fast. Having said all of that, I mostly surf a 7S 7'3" 'super' fish... and only go the 9'1" when it's too small or the break is dominated by Mals (if you can't beat them, join them!!).

Hi GPA, whack the little side bites back in and drop a 7 inch and watch your ride change, it will allow you to turn the thing on a dime give it a go and let us how it goes.
