downhill will have a trailing car for filming and safety....there will be spotters at most passing intervals...they would have already walked the mountain,sweeping debri and just checking for hazzards...they would not rock up and bomb a hill that was too gnar(maybe)....etc etc etc

How else are they gonna learn? It's part of life doing dumb **** I remember climbing onto a rocky outcrop with mates during a winter storm on Rotto. King wave came through and I swear we shouldn't of made it back that day. Dumb **** humbles a man. Alcohol though, makes him do the stupid things

On topic though, ACA and TT - maybe it's time we hire a few reporters and do a story on them?

Having family who work in TV and having been a participant in a couple of productions plus having to oversee quite a number of locations shoots for various adds and shows over the last 4 decades that used buildings I had managed. I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that most people, who make a living in front of, behind or in close proximity to a camera, should be viewed with a healthy degree of suspicion.

If you find one who's main sin is just being less than truthful, congratulations, because by their standards, you found an absolute saint.

I'm now so completely un-in-awe of these people, a month or two ago they made a promo in my building featuring no less than 100 dancers and two very big stars from the US. I made absolutely sure that I delegated that evenings work others and left as early as possible so I would not be witness to the shenanigans.

And the flowing day, when those that I delegated informed me of the broken promises from the previous night, all I could say was “well what did you expect? They work in TV!"

was out and about last night so I missed this - will have a look this evening but my initial thoughts are that both of those shows on 7 & 9 at 6:30pm are a complete waste of time as others have said - they are never on at our place unless we can watch the Shire chicks fighting

Best skate board experience as a young-en was we doused my mates skate board in fuel and sent him down this hill. We were all flicking matches at him as we wanted the flaming look. Well one of the boys mum comes around the corner, he jumps of and skate board ended up under the car He only had minor burns to his legs

We kicked it out but needless to say the parents were not impressed.

It's the new extreme sport craze that is sweeping the nation and putting our kids in harm's way.

Well its hardly new - we were doing this in 1985 on our Steve Cab and Tony Hawks....I imagine some of you on here were doing it before then. They did nto even mention that the new boards can handle a lot more speed thanks to technology break throughs

In the old days,find the biggest hill with a road,left all the loose blue metal on the road.
No helmets,knee pads or anything else,shoes were for softcocks.
No high tech boards......Surfa sam long board........death board at high speed,no real steering.

Death wobbles were common.........

Several outcomes were common..........

As speed grew,death wobbles.......
result you trying to jump off board after realizing you had no hope of correcting it.....This then involved you still trying to match speed with the out off control board as you ran next to it......After a few moments you would notice that your legs still had death wobbles and that would be it,wipe out.Chances are on the road,if you were lucky you made it on to the grass verge.......taking your chances with the odd steal trash can or random place tree......

As speed grew and you made it further than you had ever made,the blue metal that we never removed would play its part.
Dead stop,either face plant on road or board stops and you keep going at a rate of speed, to on lookers it would look like Wile E Coyote on speed/ice then ....splat.

Reckon I still have blue metal in my body and road rash from those days.Never made it to the bottom of the hill.

After we would get bored with that or to hurt,you would go home and play with fireworks.......**** I miss fireworks..
