I sail out at Seal Island over summer and was wondering about surfing out there during winter. Does it need a lot of swell to work? Is it any good??
yes, 2m swell will do it and yes, its average, and gets crowded
watch out for the 7m white (someone said its about the size of a toyota corolla, with a tail), dont worry, he/she's only looking for seals, there like chiken wings for him/her
u could always buy a shark shield as advertised!
and a shark cage and a shot gun,spear gun,dynamite..........
Not whites...they're tigers.....confirmed by the tazzy junkie from Bondi.
Agro sea lions too.....
Just ask Leech.....
Yeah I figured there would be a few biteys out there. I've been sailing there for 15 yrs on and off but haven't seen any yet, but I'm sure they are there!
I was one of the blokes out there that day it was the bro inlaw who gave that story to Tracks mag, we used to surf the break once or twice a week if the conditions were right its a good wave we had some great days out there sometimes on our own ,winter is the best time out there but we surfed it all year round,we heard storys about the sharks out there but did,nt worrie about it until we saw this one, it was about the same size as my boat around 18ft and as round as a veedub, it laid right beside the boat and looked at us, a big fish man.We got back out there a few days later and had a couple more surfs but we have,nt been out there for nearly 3 years now i dont ever want to be in that situation again 100 mts from the boat and a bloody big shark snooping around. Anyway Zed have a go and keep the boat close
this isnt seal (shark) island but I thought it was relevant
seriously.. what the hell are these guys thinking? if something is jumping out of the water and trying to bite you... dont put your hand near it!?!?!
