Separate post so it won't get buried in the other thread. Younger guys in our area that have been windsurfing about a few years. The foiler just started a couple of months ago with about a 10 yr old Starboard Go and Manta foil and quickly plonked down for a new Starboard Freeride and used AFS 85/F800(1080).

We live in the same general area as the OP in the other thread. Not much summer wind and finding open water means driving. The foiler drove 2 hrs to get to this bigger lake as his local pond is pretty much that - a cooling pond for a power plant surrounded by some of the taller mountains in the eastern US. Where we live, this qualifies as a breezy day.

Proud of our young protege and hope it encourages others who struggle with getting enough "windy" days to take a look at foiling.

Definitely not finning that day unless you enjoy raceboards (totally valid way to sail IMHO).

I almost think winging would work best on a small pond but that's getting REALLY technical on the low end. A race foil is much less technical until we're talking about getting going in less than 8kts.
