I had inflight failure at a low speed (~10 mph) that separated my fuse from the mast. Murky water, end of a jibe and "pop", my Moses 1100 rig was floating next to me. Could of been a submerged log? But anyways, I dove in, grabbed it and secured the stabilizer to my harness lines and limped to shore, Mast was intact. It snapped at the adapter.

Its a great idea...but i think it's more suited to smaller wings (kiting). My guess is the loads from a large wing (M1100)+long fuse + 135 Liter iSonic board took its toll on the adapter. MORAL OF THE STORY...Stick with standard kit design.

The adapter sits flush with the bottom of the mast (slingshot), and inside the fuselage (Moses).

YES, I am use the carbon fiber stick-on foil mount. 2nd season, no issues. It's a $169 "easy way" to convert a slalom board to foil. The plate is forward of the tuttle box, so I can still "fin-it".

I was skeptical at first, but saw a video of a guy who mounted the plate on his board, then tied the board to a tree (vertically), mounted the foil mast and did chin ups. I was sold on that.

I was just researching about adaptors today after badly bending my slingshot aluminum 90cm mast, unintentional jump; aka breached off a wave landing it, seemed harmless lol. I think I'm ready to go carbon even at 150lbs bending these long alu masts is inevitable once past the beginner stage.

He makes adaptors for almost any fuse design for a reasonable price(100usd I think). But you have to buy his masts from what I understand. They seems to be built well, being a bit thicker profiles to other masts; they aren't ment for PWA speed.
Which makes me wounder why brands make the width of masts so short surely us freerider won't be able to tell the speed differences. Even if the alu masts weight was 5lbs more who cares...the the thing is already heavy. At only 150lbs I could probably still carry the thing

Too bad the phantasm is still taking forever to arrive. Would be cool to see them have a adapter for the new carbon mast so people with the hover glide can use the fuse and wing they already have.

This one lasted me 2 seasons.

Can17 I would try to straighten that mast try and find someone with a hydraulic press and support the mast with a couple of blocks either side of the bend maybe leave the tuttle head on. In the motorcycle shops i worked in past years we would straighten the front forks on dirt bikes although those were made of steel not aluminum it might be worth a try.
Right now their are no spare parts for the hoverglide on the US slingshot website so I am trying to be easy on my foil everyone I talk to has no idea when the Phantasm will arive my thoughts are its a covid related shipping issue like a lot of things from asia.

For starters I might try to jump the foil on port tack and see if I can straighten her out
I did notice when the mast had a slight bend the gybes are a bit harder on port tack, can't imagine what it's like now.
I just wonder how many times aluminum can bend before it breaks.

Yea I think you will only have one chance to straighten the mast Aluminum is soft and bending back and forth will fatigue the metal and will bend much easier next time. In the mean time I am going to look for a spare used one ,careful jumping the 76 it's a big wing and something will give sooner or later.

Yeah I don't like jumping in general for the reasons above. I was on the infinity 65 wing today when I bent that mast!
It's funny because I was talking to a kitefoiler who was jumping on his foil 15ft+. I asked if he ever breaks gear....he said never. Although he did loose a $6000 foil board setup in offshore winds

Connor - that gentle bend will probably straighten if you prop it up on the road curb and jump on it.
Simon and I did this to his a few years ago.

Then mount it upside down so the good end takes most of the bending force (Tuttle head end)

Will give that a try JJ, probably could bend it back a bit more precisely that way then full sending jumps on port tack

Yes but you get two chances. You can turn it up side down. Not all that much bending moment applied at the wing end. It's all at the top end. If you're a jumper use a narrow board and move the straps inboard.

That's one reason carbon masts are tapered. More thickness at the top where it's needed . Can they extrude aluminium with a taper?
