Ahhh that reef. If you pay attention to the tide and don't get greedy avoiding the reef is not a problem. And if its borderline depth you can just foil on the outside of the reef. JJ would love it on a strong easterly the downwinders are epic. I have been out there when you can't see your buddies sail over the next swell.

But the answer is yes and its my fault for not switching to my 85cm mast or loosing track on where I am coming over the reef. As it has high spots. Also when the tide is low I should sail down to Ka'a which has a gap in the reef and is the preferred swell riding spot for wingers. I am just too lazy to sail the 500m from Lowers to Ka'a

Oh, I am lucky that I am not a good enough foiler to notice the impact on performance all the gouges in my foil have. But it sure is fun!

Yes Sir, It's a Roberts. Just over 6ft about 28" wide and about 110L. It weighs under 15lbs. I guess he can make it lighter without all those foot strap inserts .
Oh it can take a beating as he reinforces the nose as well as other critical areas.

Board looks awesome, I haven't seen a Roberts board for ages...great stuff

Awesome stuff. Someday I'm gonna drive 200 miles to try some swell riding . Even at 27 knots on my lake, the wavelength is too short to get much of a ride.

Faff, yes, that is typical of Roberts. I also have a Roberts with the finbox completely at the aft end. The footstraps are set for using a race foil for freeriding.

The open ocean is awesome for downwind swell riding when the wind is up. But if you can find a spot that has Swell near 90 degrees to the wind it even makes it easier to turn both ways on the swell while keeping power in the sail for carving.
And when you go please post a vid. Love learning for what others are doing

I don't think we met, but I might have seen you. I didn't WindFoil. I good old standard fin windsurfed, and winged. Only windsurfed two days. One day at Kanaha where the wind kind sucked... until a squall came through and lit me up good. That was fun. But then I went past the breakers, jibbed and the wind fully died. Lol. I had to sit out there for a while and wait.

Black Friday I windsurfed in Kihei, Maui Sunset. THAT was fun. No waves, but great nonetheless.

Nice Vid, Kihei can be fun and sometimes the swell and tide cooperate to produce some great sessions at Sunset. The reef there is too shallow for me to foil so I launch at Kewakapu or the Pier when foiling in Kihei.

This trip there were several days at Kanaha that had nice waves and off shore squally wind. Those days the Windfoil shines as the windsurfers, except for the pro's, stay on the beach while the Wingers have to paddle out to the wind line. That's when I love the floaty Windfoil boards that just make life easier.
