What kind of harness is prefered among windfoilers (non racers)?

It's kinda like boxers or briefs, personal preference. I'm boxers and waist harness. 😂 I can see the benefits of seat though, they can't ride up.

Liberty Harness ( the Drake equivalent looks fine too). Height is adjustable although I wear it pretty low, and you can use it in a "7" position like a waist harness or sit down into it like a seat for very strong wind or when you want to unload the rail.

Waist, whether race, slalom or free foiling (I have the Liberty too btw)

Standard waist, top edge just below ribs. 32" lines. Does that make me a bad person?

The reason i asked was that i use a seatharness since ever.
and the windfoilers here also use mainly seatharness.
But thats just because we already owned these before we started windfoiling.
although i use a freeride/freestyle setup i do like to hang in the seatharness when going max speed.
i wonder if a waistharness gives the same feeling of control.

i’l try and borrow one to give it a go.

To me freeride windfoiling has a lot less pull on the arms so even a regular waist harness is to much I found the DaKine travel light works for me it’s kind of a mimimalist hard shell I’ll bet their are others like it.

I use a Neil Pryde race seat for GPS speed windsurfing, it's low hook helps when committing to a run in overpowered conditions. I use an Ion waist harness for wave wind foiling, where the enhanced freedom helps in committing to tight turns in the waves.

Seat harness, as it transfers the body weight through the mast base better to lock the lift down at speed.

Free foil, no harness or harness lines, no foot straps= freedom. Winger only use harness if racing , as longer as you use low drag modern foils and small sails...

Well, i can certainly wrap my head around the freedom of not using the harness when riding the swells/free foiling for a short time, i really wouldn’t read too much into what the wingers are up to.

A lot of them seem to be slow adopters of well established ways of doing things in other windsports (that would serve them well). a lot of the wingers i see now are in fact using harness lines, albeit with their “special” winging harnesses(belts?).

even wave sailors and freestylers use them, despite only using them between waves/tricks.

waist harness for me, but i really think its very much a personal preference thing.

I use a harness when I wing. I also use footstraps.
Harness use is about 50-75% of riders where I am, footstraps maybe 40-50%

I wouldn't want to windfoil without both.
