What's all this about manual preversion, aus301? I thought I was the only manual prevert around here!

The 09 range looks the goods, i made the switch to tabou from jp at the start of the year and havent looked back the criticism that i have is that i have to wait 3 months from when i order to delivery so either the importer lifts their game for this season or tabou should reconsider who distributes their product in oz. Is anyone else having to wait way more then 6 weeks for delivery or is this only the case in s.a.?

Hmmm WW, do hairy palms reduce calouces??

Don't know about the manual Preversion stuff, I guess it's a leak of a sample brochure.

TT, it all depends, if you order something that's currently out of stock it might be a bit of a wait, but in saying that I have had just as long a wait over the years for other manufacturers gear. If the gear is in stock they are really good with getting it out, all my gear has turned up within 2 or 3 days of being ordered.

It just depends on what the importer is carrying, remembering importing gear into our relatively small windsurfing market is a bit of a gamble for these guys. They could get heaps of gear in, end up with too much left over at the end of the season that they then have to sell off cheap. the outcome of this is to flood the market with cheap last season/run out gear, which de-values the stuff that people have paid full price for, and reduces the importers ability to make profit. So I guess it's a fine line for importers and just one of the things we live with in this country. It's not all that different to buying a car, I was recently going to have to wait 3 months for a Mazda in the colour we wanted.

All in all I think the new stuff from Tabou looks great...I'll take one of each please

Yes it is just a pre-version, some for the final info will still change and a full version should be out soon (to importers that is).

I think delivery time on boards and sails depends 100% on Importer stock and when their next shipment is arriving. I know down here if you want something the importer doesn't have and isn't getting soon he is happy to have it air freighted down at your expence. It is usually the shipping time from the cobra factory that causes the biggest delays.

I have ordered and paid for my Manta 59
I dont know when it will arrive but i do know prepaying for things makes them a lot cheaper..

and yes i will have to wait but i would rather wait through winter and not summer

I have been riding a Manta 67 (which is for sale in the Buy & Sell section BTW) And it is one fast board, you will be super stoked with the 59 for sure and it will be worth the wait.

thanks to the people who stuck up for me. Yes we have had some huge delays this season. In particular between Jan and June there are problems for the following reasons
1) Pre-orders take precedence - and there is 60 day manufacturing time in the high Euro season and 3-4 weeks shipping.
2) We cannot order less than 30 boards ex the factory in one order
3) We then get one off orders from the Euro warehouse but until about May the stock is limited and depends on demand, they favour their dealers before us.
4) The cost of air shipping a board from Europe is about the same price as the board so it is done for service not for profit.

I never meant to sound like a whingeing barstard but you have to understand my frustration. I've ordered 2 boards in the last 7 months and they both have taken over 3 months to arrive, gybesports would ordering direct through you help the process next time? Anyway this problem wont stop me from sticking with Tabou because they are unreal boards to sail they just perform so well in any conditions and have superb build quality. Hopefully more people will realise this to and make the switch

I don't think it matters what brand of board you order, most take a few months to get. Earlier this year i enquired about a new Starboard Isonic and got told they were sold out and that i'd have to wait about 6 months for the new range to come out. I recently ordered a couple of customs that have taken about 12 weeks to get.
We need to keep in mind that as far as the world windsurfing market goes, we are a very small fish in a very large ocean. The importers take a pretty big gamble ordering minimum numbers of 30 boards at a time for our fickle market. We need to try and support these importers and local shops as much as we all can.
All that aside, I agree with tt and silvec, that the new Tabou's are bloody nice boards and if you plan ahead and order them, they will be very much worth the wait.
