Hey all

Just bought a Fanatic Jag 2019 (108L) and trying to decide what sail to match it with. I'm 70kg with a 36cm Tribal fin.
I plan on taking this board and sail out in 15+ kn, I've been out in 15 knots with an 8.0 sail on a bic techno but worried ill struggle to use it in the 18+kn range with this board...so would a 7.0 be the way to go or just stick with an 8.0 and learn to sail overpowered, cause I don't want to be underpowered in 15 knots either.

Thanks

I'm 74 kg and I run a Falcon 115/97 with a 38/34 Tribal and a 7.0 in 15-20 knots and it's perfect so a 7.0 should be good for you and should be a bit faster :)

I think you're onto it, I am way heavier than you and only 10L more board gets me going with a 7.0 in 16-17kn.

Depends what kind of sail too. 7m free ride sail with a small cam pocket, 15-20knots of wind is probably the perfect wind range. A race sail though, the wind range starts a bit higher for a 7m.

on techno i use 7.8 techno sail in every wind up to 30 knots then go down to 6.7 for anything more. i am 60kg for reference.

I'm about 67kgs and use a 7.2m with a 112ltre in that wind range but if it's patchy . If it's solid 15-18kts I'd be on a 6.5 twin cam and 90ltre in chop.

I have the same board, use Duotone S-Pace 7.3 and 6.6 with 36-34 carbon fins.
Great combo, have used a 7.8 with a 38 fin and that worked as well.
Jags are great boards for slalom blasting and easy to Gybe.

I'd say use your 8m first, but would bet on you looking for a smaller sail when the wind picks up to 18 knots. 7 - 7.3 would be the sweet spot for that board if you just wanted 1 sail before changing to a FSW/wave with 5.5m or whatever.

That's an interesting anatomical combination...
More seriously, Id have thought 8m is pushing the limits for the size of board you're talking about
