NQ= north queensland..
some people said i should go check out alva beach near ayr..
i am currnetly in bowen.. is there any point or is it just the same as here
ALSO i remember that when i was a kid.. i little kid that is... there used to be a boat that would go to the outer reef for $80 and you could go surf some nice waves.. does this still happen.. and if so who is up for a windsurfing trip out there?? troppo?? should be some nice waves.. nice wind.. nice reef.. nice marine life.. and if you thinkin about sharks.. don't worry about the sharks your on a windsurfer.. no worries.
AND i would like to say.
in the last few days windsurfing in Bowen the first time since i was 16, it has been great, sure there may not be waves but i am supprised with the ease of jumping here (i have been sailing at kings beach, the rose bay end) also the marine life you see.. today i saw 2 dolphins side by side arc up high out of the water not more than 5 metres away from me, and some turtles, a bunch of largish fish, and 2 small sharks. all in nice warm green water.. how nice is that. and with the islands around you feel safe to just cruise out a couple of KM (killometres)..
not a hard core spot.. but a nice place to sail and good for free style..

Curac, Alva beach is supposed to be red hot and rumour has it bigger waves than most spots in fnq. i've only been there once and it didnt blow and without wind there wasn't much to do there except drink rum. u can stay at the surf life saving club for aboout 5-10 bucks a night and its right where everyone sails.
blowin bowen i've never sailed there but passed through it many times and it is a really nice spot. No doubt the water is a lot cleaner than here in cairns. there is a kiwi bloke from up here that sails there a fair bit and he reckons it really good as well.
Sailing on the reef is awesome in cairns green island is the place to go. U have the option of flat water or rolling swells out in the deep dark blue. and waves on port or starboard tack depending on tides. u cant really ride em as they just stand up as they hit a bombie but if your in the right place at the right time it makes for some excellent jumping. and its a freestyle play ground. just watch out for the dam turtles that pop up. apart from today i dont think there has been a yellow arrow on the graph for about 3 weeks. Green is good.
not too worried about sharks there arent any white pointers over here so feel relatively safe. U sailed with dolphins i've sailed with crocs just dont fall in.
dont know of any reef charters for surfing or windsurfing but if you find one let us know because i'm always dead keen for a road trip. And it would be awsome to get some rideable waves. Maybe one of the dive boats would let people take gear on board. I'm sure there would be a few others up for it as well.
to get to green we used to buy a season pass, 25 trips for 150 bucks at first but then they kept putting the prices up still good value for money considering a day pass is around $50 now they only sell them to people that work on the island.
if it curls rip it.........

****** sweet man..
ask your local crew if they are up for some out reef wavesailing.. i will try to organise it.. i know some people with trawlers.. i am sure if we give em a little chash and some bud they be into it.. that is if the outer reef boats don't operate anymore..
oh do you know any crew down around bowen .. looking for some people to do some big coastal runs with me on good days..
you know always better with someone else to race

What size do you need cm wise?
I might be able to help as I will be in Townsville on Sunday afternoon till Monday morning.
I have a new HPL Alum Wave & new HPL Freride Booms I could sell for cash.
(I ride HPL carbon but keep them for spares)
Will do either one for $250.00 or both for $450.00
Good deal for New HPL.
Let me know soon as well before I leave any way.
I did not really want to part with one or both but have to feel for a fellow sailor in need.
