Can anyone explain to me the effect of different fin types and sizes? How should you change fins according to different wind/wave types? How do fins affect spin out?

Help will be much appreciated...

PS: why do fins cost so much? I reckon I could make one using 50 bucks of epoxy or 80 bucks of carbon...maybe...

be more specific. what boards r u using? what style do u like to ride? where do u sail? what conditions do u sail in? what size sails do u have? do u like a stiff ot a flexy fin? high speed or early planing?

personally i have 6 wave fins of which i mostly use 3. and that depends on conditions. its mostly a matter or trial and error. i perfer a farily flexible fin coz that suits my style of waveriding. the wider the board the stiffer the fin should be (apparently so i'm told).

and fins r expensive coz shops can sell then for that much. a good fin really is worth all the money u spend on it. cheap crap will piss u off with poor performance if u plan on pushing hard. some fins are cnc machined aswell which can me really expensive to tool up for.
