Some tips from the freestylers would be appreciated; I read that turning the board completely in the air was not the most important thing as it can keep on sliding.
The problem I have is when I land it slides back to how it was before I jumped (not turned!)... So I jump, turn the board (about 90 degrees or a bit more), grab the other side of the boom(1 hand), but then...
Do I need to fully grab the boom and put the sail back in the wind to help me stabilise? How much pressure do you put on the board to make it slide in the required direction? I'm using a starboard starfish, short and wide waveboard...
Cheers

i'm no pro at them either, but i get the odd 1 or 2 out of 20 and what seems to be the trick is jumping the board around about 120 degrees before landing and letting the last 60 degrees slide around. Keep your head over the mast track as u pop and rotate. Push down onto the boom (using the old front hand right up near the mast) as you start to rotate, as this helps the nose to land first and also helps get the rig across on front of you ready to change sides. Another thing that helps is learning to ride switch stance off the plane with feet in the straps. U get used to leaning out and forward, which is basically the exit of the vulcan.

Guy cribs vulcan2005 pdf article helped me alot and basically says all this stuff.

I have found them the most difficult move to learn yet!

u don't really put any pressure at all, once you spin and land it just seems to slide providing you don't land tail first or put pressure on the downwind rail.

I started trying them on dedicated waveboards 75 - 85 ish litres (skinny sideshore types), and I was only sliding 1 out 15 attempts. On a dedicated wave board u really got to get the landing spot on. Now I got a freestyle combo board (97litres) and the very first time I tried a vulcan on it I nearly did a full slidey 360. The freestyley based boards plus volume seem to make the job alot easier, even with a freeride type fin it still slips around no probs. I'm yet to try the board with a dedicated freestyle fin. I'd image it will make things even easier.

Apparently fins with alot of flex in the tip make spock/vulcan/flakka type moves alot easier to do
