Hi I am tempted to purchase a exocet nano 125 Volume board and 67 wide and aerotech sail. But before any commitment is made, does anyone outthere have one of these boards or sail ( or this brand in sydney especially)and if so are they any good to ride and is the construction the same as jp and starboard. The price of the exocet is a positive compared to the jp super sport or the starboard carves.
So if any one can shed some light on this matter it would help me quiet alot before parting with hard saved money.

Thanks for anyones help
kind regards
Walt.

I have an aerotech sail and it's ok.

The construction of Exocets is great and many of the bigger guys like to ride them cos they can handle the punishment. Haven't seen the Nano but Exocet is a good brand that is really popular in Europe.

Is it as good as a JP? Ha ha...you think JP construction is good?

Sorry for being a bit of a smart arse....the exocet is a great brand.... not as well made as my Kinetic though.....

This is about Exocet, not Kinetic. But, now you started... By well made, do you mean strong or nicely finished I have owned four Kinetics, still have three. The finish is a little agricultural. Strength I have not broken one, however, the boards do dent and ding easier than other brands I have owned... Not sure about cracks? Perhaps Kinetic are less brittle, more dings, less cracks

I have a 3 year old exocet wave board that I use at Coronation Beach all the time and it's still in near perfect condition, I'm not a super aerialist but I have landed flat quite a few times and it shows no signs of damage. The soft pads under the footstraps are a great feature as well.

Haven't tried or seen a nano, but I have an exocet scross 120L 12 months old and a cross 102L 6 months old. They still look in perfect condition and are used easily once a week in the ocean. Top boards construction wise, can't fault them at all.

Construction might be cool, but the shape isn't up to standard if you check out all the Euro mag tests...
Same on those Aerotech sails - they might be cheap, but the performance isn't the same as other brands. Do a one on one comparison at the beach. Obvious differences. Wind range, stability, etc.

Nothing wrong with Exo's shape,Prob the most comfy boards ive ridden.
I own a 120 scross fantastic board, easy planning, fast and comfy.

As for Aeros whats wrong with them, good price, stable. great wind range and fast. Ive had both Rapid-Fires and VMG sails and loved them.

Walt,

I don't have one of the bigger boards - but am the owner (proud) of a warp speed.

Cannot fault the construction or shape - in fact both are excellent and the ride is very comfortable.

Vando has a lot of experience riding these boards-his opinion is to be valued.

I have ridden the S-Cross (120 L) (too wide for my personal taste) but nevertheless a nice comfortable ride - and quick to boot.

Hi I have a OWave 85 and TB62, good construction and a great ride. I'm in Sydney and regularly sail at Botany in Kyeemah, so u can have a look. There are a few other sailors down there on Exo's, a carve and a Cross, Speed Slider, UWave. Caloundra Sailboard in Qld will do mail order delivered to your door.

Hi to all that have lent your comments they are all valueable for my search in buying the right board.

To Waiting4wind because you sail at the local water hole (Botany Bay) I would like possibly catch up with you to have a look at the exo and possibly the Cross if you know the guy. I'll probably be down there dipping the big toe in so where abouts do you rig near the park or the stairs past the parking area or what vehicle to look out for.

Kind Regards to all who commented,
Walt

Hi Walt
The cross is a great board - I ride the 117 and from what I have read there is only minor changes to the newer Cross118 (tail).
But they are very different boards to the apples you where comparing them to (SBCarve and JPSS and even the Nano) of equivalent volume.
The Cross does not have the top end speed of these other boards - but where it shines is in its, loosenes (very turny-slashy), pop (easy to jump), quick to get on a plane - and its ability to light wind wave ride but it still does freeride well (you just won't keep up with the dedicated slalom designs).
As the names suggests its a Xover design (freeride/freestyle/wave/B&J).
So make sure you know what you want from your board before you buy one!
Having said that Botany is a good place to sail the Cross, as it easily handles the chop it whips up in a southerly.

Cheers

Hi Walt - I drive a white Commodore wagon stuffed full of gear. In a NE'r I'm at the north end near the park. In southerly all the way down the other end of the street.
I usually have the Exo Wave in a Southerly, unless my other half is with me, she uses it in all conditions. The TB62 is usually in the car. Most of the local crew is very friendly so I'm theyd be happy to show off the gear.

Speaking of southerly's, yesterday was a ripper, haven't used my 4.1m for a while.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy Aerotech sails from and how cheap are they compared to Pryde and Gaastra anyway?
