John H. Gohde’s Definition of an Internet Troll
Generally, the top ten posters of any newsgroup or Internet forum consist mainly of Trolls. These people have absolutely no life of their own. They suffer from some form of Internet addition. And, spend all their free time posting to these forums.
The top ten posters of each group generally feel that they personally own their Internet forum. And, they will accuse any outsider who threatens their status on their little Internet world as being a troll; purely as a defensive mechanism.
A Troll is a person who just loves to waste, either intentionally or unintentionally, the time of other people on a newsgroup, group, or other Internet Forum. A troll tells people to do this or do that, to go yonder, etc. because they are too good to do the work themselves. Never will a troll put any effort into their replies. And, if you actually believe these people you will end up wasting a considerable amount of time going on a wild goose chase.
Nobody squeals louder than a Troll who has just been exposed for what they are!
That Google Webmasters Help group is pretty pathetic. And, I correctly called them on it. Superstitious behavior is rampant on that group. The Trolls are having a field day there telling people to make all types of time wasting meaningless changes to their web sites, such as W3C Validation, that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual problem at hand.
The topic can change, but human behavior never does. Nor, does the human inclination to engage in superstitious behavior ever change.

One of the first signs that you might be a Troll is looking up the definition of a Troll.
