Sold a few sails lately and was shocked by the freight cost from various courier companys, so in dispair took one to the local post office to see what they had to say. Posted a 5.5 wave sail, fully wrapped in cardboard and weighing in at over 6 kgs for a grand total of $19.50 Just posted another off today (a 6.0 mtr freerace- also interstate) and it set me back $20.20. So if you have a sail to post off, it's well worth seeing your local post office first.

Just make sure you wrap /box it securely.I suppose they are the same as any company but I used to work for them and they get a lot of parcels and they can get dropped or thrown around a bit.( That was 10 years ago thought things may have changed).

e-go depot to depot is cheaper, I paid about $18 for a 7.5 , including $50 insurance.

Auspost have a size limit, where you are meant to add the dimensions together, and it has to be smaller than a certain number.

I used Auspost to send some things from Perth to Sydney, and it was very cheap, cheaper than a courier.

Yes I would have thought a sail would be too large as I couldn't send some paintings to NZ they were too big..

I tried taking in a small sail to the post office about a year ago and they said it was too long, no way they could sent it they suggested a courier.

I checked into ASus Post for a sail and a board (the board is a sorry saga . . .) They said they were too big. Maybe I need to go in person?
