i have been in bali jan 2005 and there was no wind at all. i was surfing at the east side a few times. waves are nice but the locals are not very friendly. specially in the tourist areas. they anoy you all day and want to sell you any rubbish, girls or fake drugs. police is the head of the mafia there.
found bali very stressful.
have fun

I had some good flat water sessions at Sanur Beach in 2003. A hire place had some good gear & plenty of kites too. Outside of the reef there was some impressive looking waves but way beyond my level. I was on 7.8 & 118 Xantos board. The water was perfectly flat inside the reef & 28 deg c. Had a blast. I was there in June which the hire guy told me was the worst month of year in Bali for wind.

Check out the Jan/Feb 06 issue of Windsurf. There is an article about windsurfing in Bali with Jason Polakow. Jason and a mate scored awesome conditions at Uluwatu in mid August, well worth a read.

Winds start about mid July, few places around Nusa Dua. Can get some great winds and even better waves. Always find a bit of surf too.
Bali is awesome as a place aswell, beautiful people and beautiful culture.
