Di,
In no particular order, these are the websites for shops in QLD where you can buy windsurfing Equipment.

I have not bought gear from all of them, so in good faith I can't claim to rate them. While it would certainly be a credit to business to be labeled the 'best' in QLD, I think it would be careless to brand any particular shop the 'worst'.

Sunshine Coast Sailboards

Surf FX
At southport, i think no webpage

This list is possibly incomplete and I invite anyone to add to it.

ps. NO NEED TO SHOUT

allways super pumped with the service I get from the lads at Surf Fx, was stoked 12 years ago, stoked even more today. Good deals, good trades, good stock of new and used, always keen to help people out and see them on the water. Speak with Michael or Ian.

Di,

Credit to all the shops in Qld.

All the "owner occupier/sailor" shops , from my experience have a genuine desire to see the sport prosper.

Prices and trades are reasonable and the service is good.

Compare our level of service with that of our southern brothers (In terms of range and number of shops/suppliers) and we are in a great position.

All the businesses support the local windsurfing community and are to be commended for their efforts in a business that probably has limited financial benefit.

Happy to part with hard earned for good warranty cover and good advice.

- J

No offence greenleader, but there is atleast one shop which would have to rate on the 'worst' list. (Its not yours by the way
!) I know of serveral people who have had very poor experiences there. I wont name names.

I guess that it also depends on where you live. I live in Brissy so I wouldnt shop in Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast unless I was there alot.

So getting back to di's post, I guess there could be a best and worst list but like greenleader says there are all reliant on the customer so you 'should' get great service at all shops. There may just be differences in product range from shop to shop.

Hobie, I think it's possible that someone else has had good experiences with the store you had bad experiences with, and vice-versa.

have spent much money over many years at all shops (except gold coast because i am never there - but have only heard good things about them)
all have given good service and good advice - if anything travels faster than good news it is bad news and i have been fortunate enough to not hear any of the latter.

I'm a bit of a sl*t and give them all a go
Sunshine coast BNE Gold coast Syd and Newcastle wherever I can get the best price/advice (I always order/deal over the phone)
And have found them all to be excellent. But loyalty to one shop doesn't neccesarily mean the best price which for me is the bottom line.

I have to purchase all my gear from down south and have used both of the shops in Coloundra and have recieve good advice and helpfull and reliable sevice as I have to buy sight unseen,These guys have promptly sent me gear and been honest in my dealings with them.I have also brought gear from Melborne on ebay and have been ripped off because of their deceptive advertising. eg recieving a 2004 sail instead of the 2005 model, mono instead of the advertised xply.I will continue to deal with the Coloundra guys who I can trust.

I don't think it would be advisable to publicly name a "worst" shop as this could lead to legal problems, (Any thing that causes a financial loss to a business, like a public statement/print/internet post, which results in a negative change to business, can be sued for in a court of law.

More and more legal issues are resulting from posts on the internet and emails, so tread wearily!!!

PS. People aren't as anonymous as they think they are with their hotmail and yahoo accounts people have been tracked down, know of one case in particular.

Like NBR, my main concern is reliable service. I buy all my stuff through one shop. I pay more for some items and less for others, so that all works out pretty square. Because I can't see the stuff, I have to believe what the shops tell me. Because of this, I find it important to have a good relationship with the guys in the shop. The shop owners appreciate this too and look after us up here. The few guys I sail with co-ordinate our buyng to save on freight. Before I settled on one shop I received good service from all the others. One just tried harder to make long distance buying easier.

Hello Di,

I don't live in Qld but live in Adelaide Sth Aust. I purchased a board from Surf Fx on this site and was very happy with the service i received. The board landed in perfect condition and was a good price. Thanks to Ian and Michael for a great service. By the way the f2 sx s are an awesome board!!!
