Awesome. Gives a much better picture of what the wind is doing.

Would be cool if you could overlay the synoptic charts over the wind speeds, would help learn how to read the charts.

www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/viewer/index.shtml

refresh for just about any variable you like - modelling for wind has saved some of my last minute windsurfing trips in the past.

Its the only weather page you need!

Ok... I'm not sure this is meant to be out and public quite like this - my understanding was that it was meant to be a limited trial prior to release (I work at the BoM, btw, as do several others on here). BUT.. seeing as it is...

If you see something that needs fixing or could be improved, now is your big chance to get in there and offer feedback. The email address is: [email protected]

it feels a bit sluggish on iPad but I guess you guys already know that. other than that I think this is a great effort trying bring all the BOM resources together on a single page.

Especially on the East Coast where most of the wind is due to low pressure systems this makes planning a lot easier and safes me from having to open several browser windows and jump between them.

Its a good page, but the new 'meteye' one brings togther that single model (called ACCESS) and several others combined via the experience of the (human) forecasters ... in theory it should do better, overall, than a single model.

(That said, I'll still be checking my favourite - www.bom.gov.au/marine/wind.shtml !!)
