I think it was Leski that said a few days ago, that winter sailing wasn't cowded!!

Haven't seen so many sailors here in winter for many years, what's the big attraction all of a sudden????
Not this forum surely??

Still I didn't find the crowd a problem, got a few waves to myself, the only person I almost ran over was a kiter, who dropped in the water in front of me, when I was coming out of a bottom turn on one of my bigger waves. My biggest problem was lack of form and condition, after 10 weeks break, my shoulders and elbows still ache.

well maybe apart from when it is classic conditions, saturday, sunny and windy in the afternoon, which happen once every winter only. So that 's it everybody could pack up it's finished
I wasn't there though, so couldn't see the crowd , I stayed locally at Dutchies (not bad, not really crowded, a bit messy though)

Hi,
was at Dutchies as well. In comparision to the rest of the week, it was great. Wanted to go down south as well, but as condition were so unstable the last days, I decided to stay here.

Someone tries to fool us. Current wind at Rotto 30 knots SSW, 10 km to shore (Garden Island) 5 knots NE. Measured at the same time (not in the same week). Total confusion.

As crazy as the graphs look I think they're real. Turned easterly here mid morning, (didn't clean the surf up enough to get excited about). But thru the binoculars there were huge white caps on the horizon. I couldn't figure out what was going on.
Any of you weather freaks out there got any clues???

The weather was offshore.

There were people at each weather staion furious blowing on the sensors and pionting the weather vanes the wrong way.

The surfers were happy although rather cold.

The windsurfers although vocally happy were quietly happy recovering from the hurt of not having a sail for so long.

Others were repairing their gear (twas rather full on)

Elmo got a new Boom today
