Back Sliding Out on board !!!

Hi all

Was just wondering i have a problem with somthing ! when im sailing fast i try to point a little higher and my board slides out from under me causing a powerslide like affect resulting in me stacking it !
Someone told me this was to do with putting to much pressure on my back foot if so is there ne way this can be stopped .Tips and Advice would be greatly appeciated since it is getting annoying.

Probably several things to try, the trick is finding the one that works!!!
1) If you have an adjustable fin try moving it forward a bit. (decreases the chance of sucking air from the back of ther board)

2) try moving the harness lines back a bit, (this takes the weight off your back hand, thence your back foot)

3) try a bigger fin, (obvious)

4) try sheeting out a little as you point higher. (Don't know how much effect this will have on spin out, it's more to do with loss of apparent wind as you slow down, but I think it also changes the pull of the sail to be more forward instead of sideways)

Getting late, that's all I can think of right now, no doubt you'll get more.

Spinout while close to the wind?
As you go closer to the wind you lose speed so you will always reach a point when pointing higher where you will spin out. The trick is to use the best form you can and stay just below the pointing angle that reduces your speed below the spinout threshold.
Proper form is to swing your weight forward hang heaps of weight off the boom, no weight on the front foot, just enough weight on the back foot to do the job. Rake the mast back to maintain a bit of upwind rig steering and maybe dip the downwind rail a bit to bring your clr forward. This of course tends to make you carve downwind but this is counteracted by the rig steering. Any situation where you have rig steering working against foot steering is slow so don't overdo it.
That's basically it. Suck it and see.
Oh the other thing is for going upwind the bigger the rig the better.

If you sail ata place were you always are working to stay up wind use a slightly larger than normal fin and the "straighter" types.

Derailed, not sure I am in the position to offer advise, am still learning. Found the same result you commented on, as I progressed to speed increase and pointing that bit higher.
If your on a wave board, fin movement forward or back. Forward for control, back for speed. (I think that’s how it works)
Slalom board, check fin is in flush with fin box, and not sticking out a tad, disrupting flow and allowing turbulence to start across fin profile.
First time it did it for me I wondered what happened, fin came off/loose or something. turned board over and checked, na all OK. Figured out that this is normal if I get stance/pointing a tad wrong. buggerised around a bit trying and adjusting til I could feel it as it started, then dragged rear leg towards body to kick nose down wind a bit and it stops sliding away.
Crew like Decrepit been around a bit so will have better idea on what the issue is than me. Keep experimenting, you will get it to a controlled point it wont be a pain in the arse.
Now all we have to do is wait til the squashed air comes back

Not sure about this one but lately i have have moved the mast track forward a bit due to too much pressure towards the back.Have not had as much trouble as before but might be worth a try !!!

I have found a big fin and straight is quite good for maintaining line and speed.
Just one of those things we have to work at !
