Just had a great week at Monkey Mia, planing on the windy days and helping the kids sail on the quiet days. Mostly using a 6.5m2 V6 on my GO 150, and an old Windrush 320 with a centreboard that I found on a street verge. Three other guys were there sailing old narrow boards with unbattened triangle sails - they felt I should graduate from my 'barge'

.
I greatly improved my tacks and gybes, using the Beginner to Winner DVD as a teacher.
Got sucked into sailing a too-little sail back from a Km downwind twice (for my wife)... that 2m Starboard sail really sucks, the 4.0m worked better but there in light winds days I could NOT tack it back.
Saw a LOT of sharks... paddled a ski around the point and south from Monkey Mia and in 0.5m depth there were so many 0.5-1.0m long shovelnoses and black ones what I thought were tiger sharks. The GO is a nice stable ski to paddle, BTW, but rotates downwind around the fin in windy conditions.
