Hey nbr
i am heading to the lake on the 2nd January for a few days, the reason is that Noosa is 25 mins away for a surf, the lake is perfect for my mrs to learn on and if the wind is up it is good for some chop jumping and some fun for me !!!
always plenty to do there and only 30 mins to caloundra to get any new gear if needed !!!
enjoy !!!

hi nbr,
goldcoastmoz is on the money with the lake.
another option would be Caloundra as well.
plenty of surf around, good flat water at golden beach for speedsters and learners,
places to hire gear,
3 shops to hang out at,
sand beaches & blue water

Thanks for that,we will probably stay in Coloundra for a start then maybe up to the lake.I spoke to a camping ground in Coloundra yesterday looks ok there.I guess it's not to hard to just travel to either place according to what the wind is doing. Are there any events happening as my son would love to have a go in some form of racing or just go to an event and meet up with other windsurfers.

G'day nbr,
These guys are on the money, you can't go past the Lake or Caloundra for your what you are after to keep all the family happy. Try to get to the spit @ Mooloolaba or mouth of the Noosa river if we get some NE'rs though, much cleaner, breeze & can be good for blasting or playing around in the waves.
As for race events nothing much in early Jan as the Nationals are on in Perth from the 6-10th. The Lake have an event on the 21st Jan if you are still around or WQ have a race day on at Wellington Pt in Brisbane the same day, we'll be trying to move this date for the WQ though. Hope to see you all on the water.
Cheers, Tim.
