Hi everyone
I started windsurfing when i was late six early seven. When do you think is the best age to start? My parents made me do swimming lessons and everything before i was allowed on the water. I've found my friend whos learning now with my old gear is struggling a bit. So i think that the earliest possible is best, aslong as you can swim. Have many people here learnt when they were over 20 or 25?

You lucky B******d!!!!!!! Wish I'd started to learn at 6 or 7!!!
Didn't start to surf till I was 16, started windsurfing when I was 42. My wife started windsurfing when she was 50. So it's still possible when you get older, but it's so much better when young.
Think you need good supervision when very young, even if you're a good swimmer, it would be so easy to sail out of reach of parent/instructor and get into serious trouble.
But as long as the instructor knows what they're doing 6 or 7 sounds ideal.

Yeah. my dad taught me to sail. He sailed ages ago and his board had been sitting the rafters for over 25 years so first my older brother wanted to learn, and then ovcourse i did aswell. He was always out in the water with us when we were young and helped us out quite a bit. I never had leasons or anything like that.
We also started on a 2.6m long TC Beacher which is the best and most stable board i could have possibly learn't on. A 2m sail helped a lot aswell. Then we had a 3.5 then 4.5, then bought a five, and gradually got more sails as we needed them. Most of our learning sails were triangle to, and i've heard this isn't ideal. But i think that in 2 or 3 knots when i learnt in a small bay, i wasn't going to have eny problems with gusts or anything like that, and im more likely to break expensive gear and cause damage that way.
