Does anyone know of a good place to get boards repaired in Melbourne? I used my boom head to remodel the nose of my board during a catapult

Sorry mate, I wouldn't have a clue.

But don't be too worried in doing it your self, there must be someone you sail with who can steer you in the right direction. If you were near me, I'd gladly help. So unless you are a knob, some one will gladly help you Just ask your locals for help

Take it to one of the shops (RPS or SHQ) - they use a guy that does good work.

For the $100 he'll charge you can buy enough materials to do a great many repairs!!!

Yeah but why not get the board repaired during the week while I am at work and can't get out for a sail rather than waste my valuable sailing time on the weekend doing it myself, money well spent I say!

Not really. there is not a lot of time spent doing a board. Cover it with good cloth reinforced gaffa and no water can get in. So at least you can sail if really need be. (I'm assuming a bad crack here, not whole nose removed which is a bit mor drastic). Then when there is guaranteed no wind for couple days at least:

1st night after work is grind back around the damage.. That takes 10mins

2nd nite mix epoxy and q-cell or microballoons, and fill damaged area. (I'm assuming average repair here). That is about 30mins.
After it cures, the board is ugly but sailable.

then next night (or if it is hell windy, a month later) you sand back ready for glass (10mins with power assist).

next night glass up.

Board repair is bugger all time, spread out because you only do 10-30mins each session and the rest of the time is curing of resin. Your board need not be out of commission for more than 24hrs .... especially if u are desperate and use fast cure epoxies such as west 105 with 205 hardener (3hrs) and do 10mins before work in the morning and a little bit after work. Then it may be water tight only 24hrs after you dinged it.

Yaeh thats all well and good but I really couldn't be bothered. Why not get someone else to do the messy work for me and also support the local economy If I was hard up for cash I wouldn't have a problem doing it myself.
