Where do I go to have someone look at my Mistral Explosion. I was out with a 5.5 mtr sail on Sunday in 25 kts at Lysterfield Park Lake and cart wheeled. Creased the nose of the board underneath and caused a split on the rail of the skin.
BTW 2 guys where slaying it with 4 mtr sails in 35 kts. One guy with a 5 mtr and me and another on 5.5's did much better when the wind dropped to 25 kts. Northerly works well at the lake as it channels down the centre and you can sail straight out from the launching beach with a run of about 1/2 km. You get about 30 mtrs to settle down, hook in and then get blasted by the wind full on. For me it was the first time out in winds of 35 kts and I was so overpowered it was oh **** oh **** hang on crap ripped out of the foot straps again. Enjoyed it so much more when it dropped to 25 kts.
Yeh Yeh you put a smile on the dial. Old Fleshy maybe better I do go to Inverloch a fair bit and a couple of times a year to Sandy Point so I do give the name some justice.

I had a board repaired through the guys at RPS and it came back pretty good. Not too expensive either
Same here.
Old Salty, you'll have to change your name to Old Freshy if you keep sailing at Lysterfield!
Snapped about a foot off the nose of a board some time ago. Took it to RPS and you wouldn't know its been broken.
Any other wind work well at Lysterfield, maybe a southerly over the dam wall? I have mountain biked at the park a few times and never really took notice of the lake. I also live closer to the park than the bay...so could be handy for those last minute wind emergencies.
Lysterfield lake is not my preferred choice of sailing as it can be very flukey. When I have a free day I head down to Inverloch except on northerly's as the sand bar in the middle of Andersons Inlet makes sailing nigh impossible. Lysterfield is close(20mins) so when I have an arvo free I can hit the water and put up with winds that turn 360 degrees in the middle on light wind days. Put up my 8.5 and sail in circles. My theory is the wind generally is never consistant there until it blows 15 kts plus as the hills, dam wall and trees blocks / deflects the wind path. When it blows from the north there is a much longer open area channelling the wind down to the sailing area than from the south. However I am no expert so I could be shovelling heaps of ...!!
