Hey,

I recently bought a powerex skinny. Does anyone else find that the boom adaptor on their mast slips when landing jumps, stacking it etc???

how do you fix it, do you need a boom that doesnt need a boom adaptor?

any advice would be apprecitated,

thanks

mine doesn't slip, maybe try more pressure on the clamp.

but what is with the tiny boom adaptor u get with powerex, just got another boom and it doesn't fit. Now i have to make one out of an old hose coz i refuse to pay $29 for a piece of plastic (what a rip)or i'm just a tight old bastard

I use RDMs. Not had a problem with slipping - with or without those little rubber doovys. I agree with ju, try more clamp pressure

I use one of those $29 bits of rubber (not plastic) on my skinny and it's great. No slippage, ever, and not much clamp pressure required either. However a piece of hose might be good, but is the buggarizing about worth the trouble? On my boom clamp on the booms for my big sails I have slipped a piece of innertube over the flexy hinge bit that bears on the sail side of the mast - works a treat.

Whatever you do, try to avoid too much clamp pressure. I did this for a while to keep boom slipping on my big rigs, but the other day mast exploded when clamped. $900 lesson.(100% carbon 520)

i'm always up for a bit of buggarizing, especially seeing as there is F.A. else to do at the mo.

I'm sharpening the knife and the mountain bike inner tube is going to get it.[}:)]

Thanks for the tip

I had the same trouble with my boom (chinook ally) not fitting on the boom adapter that came with a powerex skinny, to fix the problem i just cut the lip on either end of the adapter so the head of the boom would fit in. Might be just that chinook boom heads are bigger...had no probs with the mods
