I have seen the brand Cobra resurfacing in the forums ! is this the old cobra brand that made cobra guns and cobra race from the early 90's and 80's ?

can any one fill me in about this? Have they risen from the dead or am i blind ?

What about brands that are not made by Cobra (excluding the juniors like Carbon Art and Kinetic/Delta):

Good! Where are they made? I remember the finish being a little different to the others on those boards...

Found the business Cobra in the Phuket business directory... Couldn't see a list of products made though...

looks like they are massive and i think it is the old cobra brand from the 80's and 90's that have a big piece of the market in windsurfing all other sports

Im pretty sure Kinetic production boards are made in Vietnam.

i see the logo "cobra" from the www.cobrainter.com site is the same as what i had on my old cobra gun and race boards, so i thinki my question has been answered.

I believe Starboard keeps very close contact with Cobra, I think it was Patrice/exocet also moved to thailand to do similar. Coincidence that these are two of the better constructed of the big brands???

F2 probably make some of their limited boards outside of cobra- window boards etc.

Yes all the layup's are individual to the companies, probably the same for alot of boards though.

Crossed my mind... I went and checked out their site (a while since I've been there)... Are they good

Bic have always utilised an aggressive pricing structure. Years ago their Vivace full carbon boards were about half the price of say an f2 thommen and were excellent boards (apart from trimbox on earlier ones). I guess their pricing came from volume of sales and construction methods which required little actual manpower (apart from the full carbon ones).

Now they have gone in their own direction and more or less shunned the pwa- their board construction is pretty much equivalent to the lower priced boards in cobra constructed boards and pricing is not all that much different.

Carbon art are a little more expensive than most of the Cobra boards. They have alot of experience and good designs behind them so are very valid (if offered i'd ride carbon art in an instant). They are also making full profit over cost of a Cobra board so they are easily covering extra manufacturing costs.

Question why something like a AB+ (chinese made) or T1 costs almost $1000 more than a cobra board.

Kinetic has moved production to Vietnam . Regards Martin
