Am I the only sailor here from this area! From a catchment of over 200,000 people...In the 5 months I've lived here, there I haven't seen any other sailors...Jeez windsurfing has really dropped off the rader of the public....oh well..more waves for me I guess... :)

I do a bit of wave sailing up that way a few weeks a year and the only fellas I know around that way is the surf shop owner from Scotts Head(about 50 K's below Coffs) and his brother who bothe live in Nambucca. You should try and catch up with them, they know heaps of good spots down that coast.

There will be a NSW wave comp up at Woolgoolga on the Oct long weekend, so that'll boost your numbers temporarily

Yamba still has a strong crew. A good NE and Pippi will get 15-20 guys out white Turners Beach gets 10-15 sailors for the flat water. There are others at Coffs, they will appear when the winds arrive. See you at Woolgoolga Oct long weekend.

I was going to head up for the comp - where is the best place to camp, Lakeside Caravan Park or Woolgoolga Beach Caravan Park? The latter looks closer to town but I'm not positive!

Any advice greatly recieved!

Both.
Haven't stayed in the other one (its a few minutes out of town anyway if its the one I'm thinking of), but the one in town is pretty good. Most of the crew will stay there, and you can walk to the pub from there too.

had 1 room left 2 days ago.I think I payed $68 a double/night.
Not 2 far 2 stagger home. And the NRL G.F is on the sunday night.(Go Newcastle). Still not 100% sure if I can make it though as the car has sh#t itself. Getting fixed again tomorrow.

Its about 6 - 7 hours north of Sydney, but the long weekend makes it worse. Although a few bypasses now help.
The last comp they had there (2003) it took me nearly 10 hours to get home to Sydney due to the traffic. Depends on what time you leave.
I'm now in Wollongong, so no thanks.

Donk..kittens are still the current premiers, and the knights are still the current wooden spooners. nuff said.

I am a bit of a wacko. But I see the trip as part of the adventure. Just like a long watch on a yacht, I find a long drive at night almost relaxing. It is all to do with your frame of mind. Just being out and having dinner at a roadhouse amuses me. How else could I get from Gerroa on a sunday arvo back to Brisbane for work on a Monday morning after a comp. Just drive and enjoy the adventure.
PS. Go the Kittens!!!!

I know what you mean poledancer. I was the same. Still am I guess. I enjoy road trips. I'd rather try other places now.
After 4 years of Woolgoolga comps with one windy one, I'm all Woolgoolga'd out. Still a fun weekend though. But I'll stay here and sail Gerroa for 3 days instead.
Hope it blows up there though. Fun place to sail when it does.

Gerroa to Brisbane? Sh!t thats keen. Respect to that.

Being a newbie to East Coast wavesailing and the comps I'm keen as mustard to check these events out. luckily i get time off for events from work and as i don't drive a truck it doesn't matter if i'm cream crackered for work!

10 hours drive... will have to leave at 8pm on monday to get to work on time!

BTW are the comps ever windy?!
