Getting organised for the WA excursion this year and I'm a bit stuck when it comes to a cost effective way of renting a car with roof racks or something else that can carry the windsurfing gear.

We're 4 persons which unfortunately rules out commercial vans as these tend to only have sets for three.

Is there anyone out there who has found a cheap good place in Perth that caters for windsurfers in need of a vehicle?

Happy for any advice and experience you want to share.

Cheers,
Staffan

I know you said commercial vans are out, but give Wicked Campers a call

or www.wickedcampers.com.au

They do those Delica 4wd vans (mitsubishi), which would probably suit your purpose.

Only thing is you have to live with the ridiculous paintjobs

Mate the best thing to do is buy a car. For $1000 you can get an ok wagon, maybe pay $90 for a mechanic (RAC) to check it out. As soon as you start hiring, the cost goes through the roof. It all depends on your budget.

Check out

Also the Sundays Times paper has lots of second hand cars.

They have mainly ford falcons and they use to have windsurfers as customers

If you're after a bomb try Cheapy Car Rentals on Great Eastern Highway near the airport.

I ended up getting one from clubred as suggested by eric344.

They offered a good deal, older style falcons with roof racks at reasonable prices. They even give us transfer to and from the airport to/from their car yard which makes it super convenient as it can be a small struggle to get a cabbie to take it.
