whats the best way to make the bottom of ur board look brand new again? cos i sail on the river a fair bit at the moment it gets heaps dirty, would something like a fibreglass polish work well? Any suggestions would be apprecitated.

1200 grade wet n dry sandpaper. Used wet.

Lemon juice gets rid of the staining. Pour or rub it on leave it a few minutes, give it a good wipe with a cloth and your board will come up like new.

CLR also works, but I'd stick with the lemons

i used jiff once on a jp board, be carefull if you get too carried away it will take too much off, especially on the edges... it also made some of the paint bubble a bit.
if your always going to sail on the river then i'd just leave it as it only takes a few sessions to get that lovely brown streak on again....

If you'd had a close look at my old boards, you'd realise what a silly question that is!!!!
If it was just a once off, I'd probably grab some fine wet and dry, (400-1200). But you wouldn't want to that too often, depends what's been used for the finish coat, 2 pack urethane will stand up to almost anything, so all the aformentioned methods would be fine. If unsure go with the least abrasive-corrosive solution, lemon juice, if it works, only a mild acid, wash off afterwards, shouldn't damage any finish I can think of.

Hit the nail on the head... "Mild acid"... If anyone is in doubt, give it a go... It does not change the finish of the board... it also works on the grip on top of boards - if you have real bad tannin staining...

I sound like I'm selling one of those "amazing all purpose cleaners"... Oh well, I might get a gig on the Bert show one day
