We're up at Burrum Heads to try our hand at the speed run but from the forecast, since "clockwise winds" are expected, I think we made a good choice bringing the freestyle gear too:

Fraser Island Waters, Sandy Cape to Double Island Point:

A Gale Warning is current.

Monday until midnight: Winds: NW to NE 30 to 40 knots. Seas: 3 to 4 metres. Swell: E to SE 3 to 4 metres. Moderate to heavy rain areas, isolated thunderstorms.

Tuesday: Winds: Clockwise around low at 35 to 45 knots. Seas: 4 to 5 metres. Swell: E to SE 3 to 4 metres. Scattered showers, areas of rain, isolated thunderstorms.

Wednesday: Winds: S to SE 25 to 33 knots.

Thursday: Winds: S to SE 20 to 30 knots.

Squiddy,
Forecast is all over the place at the moment as the low sitting over Hervey Bay will either create or kill any epic conditions. Early to mid-morning tomorrow is now looking good although wind direction could have too much east in it.

yeah, it's the we got no idea forecast.

i think that's the boms way of saying it's probably going to be a cyclone.

but as sausage points out, this all depends on where the low moves to.

fingers crossed it moves north. that is the best possible outcome for strong winds.

southerlies head to the the main run.
if it get east in it then head to the northern run over near burrum point.

Absolutely. Aren't winds always clockwise around a low, in the whole Southern hemisphere?

it appears our friend may be the victim of wind shear if i'm reading this right. will be interesting to see what happens from here.

the rotation is still there but weak now. fingers crossed it moves north into better conditions.

At Shearwater very very windy. From 9.30 until about 12 or so over powered 95% of the time on my 4.7 S1. I recon it was getting up to about 34-35. After that still pretty good but not nuking. I've had the S1 for about 5 weeks now and no wind to use it until today. Sweeeeeeeet sail, very happy
