Right, he's well past his due date for a new board, been on a Bombora 295 all his windsurfing life and I feel he's missing out. Considering putting him on something around the 105L mark as soon as he can waterstart well.

Any suggestions on boards? - He likes the flat water, but we also go on the ocean often. Sails mostly on his 6.2 and loves it, even on the ol Bombora!

I rate the Mistral Synchro for the job. Sweet board, very forgiving but lots of fun!

(Also can handle a few more bumps/beatings than some other new boards)

I've got a X-cite (or should that be an X-cite?) Great board to learn on, and not an obvious beginner's board, sounds like he's more advanced than me and knows what he's doing, the X-cite would be ideal, fast, easy to manouvre...manuover...er...turn etc. and I've only had one good session on small waves and it handled it with ease!!! a good all-rounder. (probably not the best for aerials though???) It's got me hooked!!!

Fantastic board, but due to its bull shaped nose, it takes the nose crunch with no room for mast slide off, . But all in all, thats about the only down side to them when your still learning.
If you can stand the repairs every now and then, its a great board.

Mineral, get yourself an old style strap on mast base protector, and put it on the mast just below the boom. I'm sure it saved the nose of my board once or twice.
