Rode past it on my bike today (gotta keep fit for the oncoming storms .. yeah yeah yeah!) .. the council have put all new fencing up! .. you can still get to the beach, but it ain't to kit friendly .. unless you are 6'6" and can lift it over those poles

Don't you guys know that the first cold front doesn't arrive each year until "Mothers Day" ? It's all worked out so that you're hanging out for a sail and then right when you've commited to a quiet lunch .. 35kn from the NW!

Crikey - it's a mess of a place, that's why it's called "Crazy" waves .. get's messy wind blown waves (knee to waste high) coming from the sw & nw as they wrap around a sand bar .. sometimes they jack up right in front of you as the sw & nw waves intersect - crazy stuff! Minimal waveriding to be had .. I like it coz it's close and I'm a crap wavesailor anyway!

crazies is all right !

Sail it in 4.0 weather with 4.0m swell or bigger and head high waves are there.

This place will test your onshore wave sailing style but any wsw or wnw bend combined with the angle of the wrapping swell means you can get multiple near side shore smacks right near the beach and out the back (if the tide is nice and low).

great place for practicing shove its - still wish i could do the damn things properly ! Open your mind and this place will deliver skate park style fun.

Look forward to seeing you all out there come steamer season !

I sail there but...... maybe it`s called Crazy Waves because the South Freo locals think we`re crazy for sailing near what they say is a very industrially contaminated site( the building on the north was a foundry in recent history and maybe worse before that ). Even with the toxins we`re ingesting with every mouthfull of water after getting smashed by the sudden winter squalls, it still is a great spot to sail in winter --- if you don`t get your car broken into ( I`ve been fortunate ) by the local crew of Neanderthals......

Last year I rigged up and launched from South Beach car park and sailed south to CW. Theres generally more people about walking dogs etc, and theres also showers and nice grass to rig on. Felt much better leaving my car there...

My mums also in the UK so I'll catch you down there for some crazy backside shoving ..... or maybe Bircher Point ???

Crazy waves hmm that's Justins favourite spot why haven't you posted about it Justin?
It's been posted lots of times before, park at South beach weekdays and when lots of crew are there on the weekend park at crazies.
It's a good place if you don't have time to travel further south on a WNW to Westerly. When it goes WSW pack up and go to Lieghton/Port beach.
Only a couple of weeks to go now for the "steamer boys"

Just south of rockingham it's on the road map as bircher point A.K.A. long point, but it needs 3m plus swell to work in westerly

Mothers day keeps moving around each year I thought it is usually around 12th or 14th of May (as it sometimes falls on my sisters birthday) I don't know who decides when it is! Anyway it looks like some wind coming around that date. See you all out there!
