OK guys I need some help here.

I haven't bought a new sail in quite along time and am now looking at getting a couple of sails in the 5-6.5m range. I am used to freeride sails and flat water but am thinking i should go towards a more versatile style as i want to get into rougher bump/jump conditions and learn to get some air which might lead me to try a couple of freestyle tricks, and at some point I'd like to have a go in some waves.

Now I am used to brands like Tushy, Gaastra and Sailworks and have found the North (Dave Ezzy era) and Ezzy sails to be the best I have tried, but the Naish and Maui brands are not very common in the UK where I have done most of my sailing. So basically I was looking for some recommendations on brand and models in this size range, otherwise I would probably just go for Ezzy, probably Wave for the smaller and Infinity for the bigger.

BTW I am also going to have to buy skinny mast(s) and boom(s) so it would be useful if I can get away with one of each for both sails; obviously this will depend on exact sail sizes but if a sail is more forgiving for not using the ideal mast it may be a factor.

Cheers in advance.

I've been impressed with my aerotech charges, well built, good wind range, and i use them just blasting around, b&j, and starting to foray into some smaller waves. But there's lots of other good brands available these days.

I just bought a skinny, new boom and almost-new Ezzy 5.0... very very happy with the Ezzy. I think that they are a bit more mast-tolerant than many other brands as well.

Not buying any other brands now, I've found the perfect sail

The naish boxer , up to 5.8 fit on a 400 mast . One mast for all your sails is a good saving and they work well. i have a 5.8 and a 5.4 they have lasted ok but only half the time of my ezzy's . I think i have had them rebuilt twice lol

best sail i have ever ridden, and own is the hotsails super freek, i have the 5.3 and my dad has the 5.7 and 6.3 beautiful sails, light feel but unbelievable power, very stable and perfect for bump and jump, free ride, waves and freestyle. not the cheepest sails on the market, but well worth it, i dono where you live, but i got mine from windshack, and they may be able to post, have a look,www.hotsailsmaui.com/2007/sails.php?sail=superfreak also the hotrods are excellent skinnies, i am lead to believe

Everyone so far has given you wavesails! The Boxer and S1, yes they all on a 400.... but Arlo said up to a 6.5

doesn't matter what brand, you will need two masts for 5.0 - 6.5

Simmer Crossover is my pic. Wave construction, powerful and massive wind range I used my 5.7 as my lite wind wavesail but also held it down in 30kn constant on flat water and it felt sweet. Read some reviews particularly boards.co.uk.

I haven't checked out any of the other suggestions as yet but with the 2008 Ezzy Wave I can get away with a 430 mast from 4.7m through to 6.3m which is pretty good going; obviously some are second choice masts, but it will do until I can afford more than one.

the superfreek is a crossover sail, not a wave, its just that it is brilliant in waves, that people use it as a wave sail

Better than that, you can buy in half-mast increments!

Eg. the recommended mast for the 5.2m is 430 top with 400 bottom. So when you've got half the money saved for the 400 you can buy the bottom half and get better performance out of the 5.2m sail and smaller!

Of course !!!!

I knew you could mix and match so you could effectively get 3 masts by only buying 2 but I hadn't considered the fact that I can buy them half at a time!
