If anyone has ever sailed at Hookipa and hasn't heard, the famous Rope Tree died September 16, 2006.

it already looked dead!

it's hard to die more than dead.

maybe it was dead and waited for the right time to keel over.

The tree was an icon, it will be sadly missed as it will never be replaced, gone forever from the overall picture from the original Maui experience. Maui lives on however, but the threat of Oakagee Port on Spot X and Coronation, is truly more worthy of discussion. Short term (30 years) profits to a bunch of blow ins, compared to a never ending resource, a windsurf Mecca forever and a day.
