I stupidly broke this rule yesterday!!!

I made a call on a very good forecast which means one of two things:

1. Forecast proves to be false!

2. Somebody has to miss out, "The Sacrifice"

Yesterday while cleaning out my boat and bending over ...WHAAAAAAAM... Massive Back Spasm, can hardly walk...... I never take pain killers or anti-inflamms..... have been pumping them like a kid in a kandy store!!!!!

I "Messed with Fate"......... and I paid the price!!

As fate would have it another sailor was taking advantage of the conditions to set up a blistering run to de-throne Hardie from the Top of the NEED4SPEED list.

Rest up Hardie and we hope for a speedy recovery and for you to get back out there on the wide blue to wrestle your Numero Uno position back

38.9 knots is extremely fast, and in the chop we sail in, I don't have the skills to reach those speeds, who do you think I am Chris Lockwood or someone!!!!!!!!

Hardie, bloody crook back worst thing ever.
Despite the whatsits your taking, and I reckon a few will give you some remedy’s here to cure it. But from one who has been there done that, Chiropractic, physiotherapy and all that stuff.
Best thing taught to me by a physio, was to sit on the floor and place both feet with soles facing each other and draw the feet towards groin, while gently leaning on inside of knees with elbows with some pressure. Being an ol mongrels, it wasn’t that flash at start, but can now get heels very close to butt cheeks now. Apparently this maneuver gets the hips, pelvis and spine as straight as practical and reduces instance of what you have just suffered. Have to do this before and after session, mainly after, even when sitting on lounge with a shandy watching TV or such like.
So far so good, I haven’t had a day off for at least a few years since I started this procedure.
Hope you get right soon, we need that record here in dubbljaA

There's only one sure cure for this in the long term. When you can move properly again, start doing crunches and lots of them. At least a hundred in the morning and a hundred at night.

I've been suffering on and off (more often on though) with lower back pain since 1992, when I had a partial laminectomy at L4/5. Since I've been doing loads of crunches everyday, I've been better than I have in years.

If you're not used to doing it, take it slow to start with and work your way up to it over a couple of weeks. Do them on an exercise ball too....much easier and you get a good hyperextension into the bargain!

Yoga helps heaps too if you have the time/inclination.

Hey thanks for that Elmo. The spot where he did it is actually the same spot I discovered on Sunday too. I think Sam must have been there earlier in the day than what I was because there was only one other guy out when I was there with my mate and it definately wasn't Sam. At least I know it's a venue where you can crack 40knots!!
Now can you edit your post so no one else knows where it is LOL

Hey Rex,

Is this where you went? Here's a bit more info for others who want to go fast in Sydney.

When the wind has a fraction of west in it there is a spot 1.2km opposite St.George Sailing club. Just checked on the street map and the spot is called Pelican Point near Towra Point Reserve.

The spot is only good on low tide for runs of around 150-200m max. Heaps of fun but was on my own Sunday morning as couldn't other lazy ***** out the door.

Take a look on Google Earth at the co-ordinates. Lat 34° 0'55.66"S, Long 151° 8'17.56"E.

Just keep and eye out for strong SSW, low tides and if you get there watch for shallow bits at it gets a little sketchy close to shore. Also there are a few good size wooden pilons that would kind of hurt if span out in to them.

Good luck,

Sam.

Sometimes well most times i reckon they are better to avoid. Let your body heal au naturel... Just use pain killers, heat/cold packs and the odd BJ.

Hope you feel better soon Hardie

Probably asking whilst sitting in your reg's at the breakfast table, or while down at the shops is not the best tactic

You have to work your way into these things with subtle hints etc. so that they think it is their idea in the first place
