Hey I'm relativily new to windsurfing and I'm having trouble getting a decent amount of downhaul on my KA 6.5m predator.
Is there any tips anyone can give me, it's really annoying me...

Give it a bit of downhaul, crank on the outhaul (boom) then downhaul again. Wrap the downhaul around a screwdriver or the hook on your harness to get some more purchase.

Hope this helps.

1)Try a 6:1 pulley.

2)Drill 2 wholes in a 1/2 to 3/4 inch metal bar. Feed the rope up through the side facing the sail and back down through the next whole then back through the loop you made at the top between the 2 wholes. The harder you pull the tighter it gets, as the pulling motion of the loop tightens the rope feed through on the bar. There is no chance of it locking up either. Very hard to explain in writng. Very simple when you see it.

3) Straighten your leg rather than using your back and give it heaps.

A Hyro Pulla helps heaps, super simple but makes a big difference.

I had a Predator 6.5 a year or two ago, used a standard mast base and a Hydro Pulla, no problems.

Thanks for all the help, I'll try it out soon.
Deano: I think ive tried the metal bar idea but the holes started to tear out and i was scared I was going to cut the rope. Maybe I'll try with a stronger metal :P

try Deano's steel bar method, but use a wooden hammer handle instead of the steel bar. Comfy on the hands, and the wood won't cut through your downhaul cord.

Be careful using a screwdrive to downhaul - very dangerous practice
