Very Westerly here in the gong atm. Supposed to swing s/sw this arvo and increase to 30-40kts :o I'll See what happens after lunch, Windang (20min) or Peggy's(5 min) that's the question.

CJW, I'm halfway between the two at the moment. I'm going to sail City Beach at lunch.
It'll be Peggys or Windang all weekend though

Yeah I've sailed at windang a few times towards the end of the season and it wasn't really working that well in my opinion. That's the only thing that makes me question the drive down there, so far every time i've been there i've though I would have been better off at Peggy's (which near me and hence a short drive). Plus the surf atm is FLAT! Looks good for tomorrow though, swell wise. I'll probably hit peggy's this arvo, maybe Windang tomorrow.

Still finding it hard to believe this wind is going to be kind enough to hang around in the morning. By the way, what's it like blasting in the rain?

Where was everyone 25+, gusting to 40, and I counted barely more than a half dozen at any one time. Given the wind drought we've experienced of late, if this had been summer there would have been 70 out there.

Don't tell me your all afraid of the cold? Gee, after ten minutes I couldn't even feel the cold in my numb feet and hands.

Anyway, you all missed out. (On the resurrection of my flouro orange/pink/blue steamer, circa 1990, that is.)

There was just enough 'west' in it to keep the swell down, so the trip back to shore was an absolute blast in the gusts. Must get one of those GPS thingies.

Hi Harrow, I could see that wetsuit from Dolls Point. I dropped into Kyeemah, however with the west in the breeze there was a wind shadow near the shore so I went to Dolls Point, the kite spot. There were about 20-30 people out, including kiters. It was still gusty but it's cross shore so less shadow. Apart from the strong tidal current it's not a bad spot, nice grass to rig on, right on the beach.

I made the mistake of sailing to the shore on the other side, It was bizzare, hardly a breath of wind near the shore. I ended up waiting for about 10 mins before I got light gust and managed to slog out knee deep to the wind zone. I wont be doing that again. May do Dolls Point again today, forecast is SSW but not as strong.

JESUS...It was You !!! [}:)]
Hi Harrow, Talked to you while rigging and de-rigging yesterday at Kyeemagh. At first wondered who that guy wearing this "resurrected" fluo wetsuit was. Then saw him fly (not walk) on the water!! Should you have grown your hair and beard a bit longer, I would have recognised you right away My Lord .
Keep on bringing the wind !

Harrow, I ended up Northern Beaches way - i was meant to be dropping the missus off in Southerlandshire at 7:30am but she was too hungover!! Lake Narabeen was very good at 7:15 as the wind was very westerly - it was solid force 5-6 no gusts! By 9 it had more south and became gusty. The lake was freezing which must have kept a few people away - like you i thought it was going to be busy!

Have just spotted someone going well in the wharf side of manly so may have to head out again!!! Although I ache all over from yesterday!

Lets hope we get some more weekends like this!

So did anyone get out? Didn;t see a lot of people out on the water this weekend.

Manly Wharf was very good today - 25 knots not too gusty - well overpowered at points on my 6.2! Lots of chop but not many jumping opportunities!

I sailed at Peggy's (Wollongong)on Saturday morning and it was pretty huge. Gusting to 40kts easy and BIG surf, biggest jumps of my life as you can line them up at warp speed there. The waves weren't the best for riding although some decent ones every now and then. I had a big wipeout on the insde curtesy of the 'great white wall' and thought I was rock bound, got out of it and figured I'd better give it up before I get in real trouble as I was the only one out there.

I then went down to Windang to see if anyone was there, few of the pros packing up. Looked pretty massive down there with some big close outs. I thought well I won't attack that by myself so I decided to go and have a bash on the lake. Stupid place with it's stupid weed! Everytime I sail there I swear never again, was some pretty huge chop out in the middle though :D Then It died and I had to slog about 800m downwind on my wave board with a 4.1m, ribbon weed all around the mastbase/feet/footstraps. Damn lake!1

Sunday: surf was still huge, I thought there won't be anyone out and Peggy's, not keen to drive down to Windang and potentially sail by myself, not sailing on that damn lake again, time to watch the v8's :D

Hi CJW. Windang was pretty good, I sailed there on Saturday, although the banks need to be out further. It was excellent to get out after so long.

The pros came down from Sydney they had 1 snapped mast, 1 ripped sail but it was good fun to watch. Big shoreys.

Sailed Kyeemagh Sunday. Not many out, probably about 10 or so.
Wind was up and down and swinging, still good to get out after the wind drought. Only took 2 hours for the feeling to come back into the feet.
Had some good sailing out to the runway and back.
Saw some sails and kites down at Dolls.
Harrow, that wettie of yours takes me back to the fleuro days of the late 80's, early 90's. Classic. Everyone in black steamers made you stand out like nothing else.

The Seabreeze forecast is showing 25-30 knots for Sunday, could we be so lucky two weekends in a row ?????

I hope so :D Surf should be nice and manageable on Sunday too, picking up as the day goes on. Monday's surf forcast is for some fairly sizeable waves though.

If the swell and wind cooperates on Sunday or Monday, I will be checking Shellharbour Pool (Off the pool not in it!) if anyones keen.

Windangs banks are abit frustrating at the moment.
