The windows here shook. I thought that's strange the wind has suddenly picked up.

The older types will remember the Newcastle earthquake in December 1989. I was right there, getting ready to put my balls in the water (there was a race then), when it hit. There were 7 dead, if memory serves (collapsed wall).

Impressive these things...

Yea it came through Avonsleigh like a freight train. Our house is built on a concrete floating slab so the floor did not rattle but boy the roof and windows did. Wife thought it was the washing machine going off like a frog in a sock and I thought it was a Mac truck driving over the top of us. The eerie thing is we live with a lot of bush around our place and we went outside to complete and utter silence where it normally is like a crowd at an Anzac day footy match. All the animals and birds where sh(&)^(%*%$tting themselves

The St Kilda Road area was also rocked - substantial damage experienced in my property. Insurance claim filed.
