What about a East Coast - West Coast section in this general windsurfing discussion? ( and maybe same for kitesurf), It's annoying to read a full on thread just to realise that people are talking about some place on the other side of the big island.
Not that I want to start a bad vibes: East coast/WEst Coast like the gangsta rappa in da States, but just to know where we are steppin in when we click click.
hum?? how about it?
Laurie? (I suppose it has been proposed quite a few times already, so what's the deal?

I see what your saying. This last month or two has seen the forum taken over by east coast threads hasn't it?! Maybe it's because Dimmeys and Crazy Clarks have started stocking kites. Now everyone can afford one.....YAY

just don't buy one from the reject shop or the 2 dollar shop. Apparently they are seconds

Maybe we can have a locality identifier somehow, it's nice to hear what's happening on the otherside, there's also a lot of stuff that isn't locality dependent, I prefer the one section at the moment.

If you had Left Coast and Right Coast sections in the forum.......

it already exists in the kite section Buy and Sell.
so I really don't know where the guys from Adelaide buy&sell their stuff?
I see your point Decrepit, I sometimes read stuff from East side too(cause I might move there soon actually)
But I think that to have a different section would not be a problem for this, would it? or is there not enough people for 2 sections?

For buy and sell it makes sense.
It's the numbers thing that I'm thinking of, if it get's really busy a split would make sense, but until then I think it's nicer to share.

i've just moved from east 2 west. Believe - west is best. I keep avin to give myself bitchslaps to check i'm not dreaming....AYYEEEE wazup - - not really

but i think it would be good for the buy n sell, it's a ballache selling/buying interstate - i think you need to see the goods b4 the transaction, especially with seconds.

well I am moving east around the world, next stop east coast, then pacific island..then...
not quite, but my wife got offer a new position in Sydney, so I might become a Sydney sider for a while. I've heard the wind on the east coast is as frequent as we see iceberg drifting over this side, but well, there is a huge climate change soon and in the next couple of year, NSW will become the windiest place on the planet, I say!

If there were two sections, hopefully I wouldn't be on my own on the Eastside section would I? Maybe everybody is mainly kiting over there though.

There are a couple of east coast people on these boards but not many, and I don't think there are even a handful of people on here that are south sydney people like me :/

Bladez,are you windsurfing or kitesurfing?
the plan would be to live south Sydney, as I 've heard it is better and you could drive even further south, but I rarely see post on here about wicked wave sailing sessions?
Maybe they are not enough windsurfer that read these forums because it is mainly west coast stuff and they don' t really have a section for the east, so they get bored.
In others words, they might feel the same than me when I read stuff and then realise it is in Queensland somewhere!
2 sections is better

In actual fact with the construction of the new marina and rock walls, and resultant sand accunulation, the nature of wsurfing has changed dramatically, we have now become mainly speed sailors, using a secret speed run on the Estuary, Elmo has cracked 40 knots on one run, max 2 sec time of 40.23 knots, averaging 38.67 knots. (This place is almost as good as Sandy Point, but not quite as have sailed both). The speed saling is so hot!, that Even an old decrepit wavesailor such as myself has to admit that speed sailing at 35 knots + is more exhilarating and adrenalin pumping than wavesailing, now an addicted Speed Junkie

Good points all round. The reason there's no east/west coast forums is that I don't reckon there's enough posts to warrant the dilution into two categories.

There some enhancements on the way which will show in the profile at the left the state rather than the country - the "country" is the default, but doesn't make much sense here...(as some have already suggested!)

Leski,
The sailing on the eastcoast can be bloody good...we get a huge variety.Sydney can be a hole for wind (it does have its days though) but travel 1 hour north or south and you will find some awesome wavesailing, and go further it gets better..you will find all the good shops in sydney sailing or kiting..we also get port and starboard..WA only gets port?(ive never been there) and we also have a very healthy comp scene of both wavesailing and racing so dont be to scared about conditions it's prety ****ing good!!!hope you WAliens come over for the aussie titles.
Get a dog up ya..peto

I have to agree with LAurie. When the forum gets more eastcoast members, maybe then.

How about at the start of a new post put in the subject line "EC - enter topic name here" so you know if its east coast or west coast.

Just a thought. i think its great having us all in the one group anyways, regardsless of if you dont know the area, it make a great network for those lucky to travel.

I windsurf but I'm not upto the level of wavesailing yet :P maybe when summer comes around and I can afford some new gear. The only wavesailing spot I know around here is wanda, normally around 5-10 guys in summer when it's blowing.

Leski,

Peto is spot on. NSW goes off in many places. And you're close to the best of them.

Check out the spot guide at this link:
http://www.nswwavesailing.org/news_story.asp?newsID=36

Come to the NSW comps. Good crew. good weekends: wind or no wind.

And the nationals next Feb will go off. At the very least it will be the biggest piss-up of the year!

good idea to have state thing attached to your name and/or subject.

maybe only the day the east produce someone like Hardman or PoorRelative then we will need two sections.

Ok thx for the East siders infos, I will get in touch with what's happening and where.

It's nice to be acknowledged as clinically insane Lesk, I appreciate that, however, what you need to remember is on the East Coast people like Hardie and Poor Reli, are sanctioned under the mental health act and are involuntarily hospitalised, and cannot access the internet. So I think you owe an apology to all east coast nutters!!!

here's a plenty good reason not to have an eastcoast topic.

www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?action=viewimage&categoryid=6&text=&imageid=284&box=&shownew=

i went out for a surf yesterday and there was one almost acceptable break about 30m wide with about as many ppl out from curly up to mona. thank god for carparks.
