Just got back from 10 hours of the Royal Easter Show.
Talk about major mixed experiences.
Probably a bit long winded but if any Sydney folk are looking at going heres too many observations in a Do or Dont fornat.
Do catch public transport, very well organised.
Do pack snacks and lunch to save money.
Dont eat at the Arizona Steak and Seafood place, f*****g crap overpriced food.
Dont expect to keep animal crap off your shoes/thongs at any stage.
Do visit the yard dog (sheep mustering) and milking shows, funny and interesting!!!
Do try and speak to a bushie at the sheep shearing, bloody nice people and the whole family learns a lot.
Dont buy showbags if your are NOT on the way home.
Dont visit showbag place if you dont like crowds. "me"
Do queue for any of the country stuff you would never experience in a big city.
Do be prepared to use your old footy skills in dodging people.
Dont be surprised to spend over $7 for a beer.
Dont get cranky after you have been bumped, jostled, prodded or trodden on for the hundredth time.
Do stand your ground so you can see stuff.
Do ask any of the volunteers or cops for directions, sweet.
Dont get surprised when you see numerous extremely obese women.......
A: eating Pluto pups, hot chips, Dagwood Dogs, "Cheese on a Stick?".
B: carrying fat baby on one arm whilst lighting up smoke in the other.
C: belting, smacking, screaming or abusing feral children at any stage.
D: Telling hubby that they "have no f*****g idea how to do anything"
E: talk on mobile phone in language that would make a wharfie blush.
Dont be surprised when you see the worlds biggest collection of mullets and rat tails on kids and grown men.
Do hang around and listen to John Williamson sing "True Blue" and "I am Australian", fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do be very pleasantly surprised when you see Indian, Asian, Lebanese and Arab families singing along knowing all the words. (not being racist, just not politically correct).
Dont leave before the FMX and stunt cars come out. That was frigging unbelievable
Dont leave before the fireworks, kids love em'!!!
Do go every couple of years, a great family fun day out.
Ta.
