Does anywhere work in an Easterly?

Suppose all the perth coastal spots would be bang offshore...

Maybe have to resort to the river, would PPoint or Applecross be best?

cheers,
Ben

On the river, Point Dundas (north of Applecross/Lucky Bay) and Peli Pt are alright. Lucky Bay is generally lee shore (not much wind at all).

Rocks Are Fun

Ive sailed safety bay(bent street boat ramp) on a easterly. It was kinda weird but good at the same time. Straight out to sea as if you were sailing of cot, scabs ect. Very flat water and quite consistant as well. Theres a lot of water for the wind to travel across before it gets to you.

agreed dave. I sailed safety bay tuesday and wednesday from about 9am to midday on a 6.2m. You can stay in the pond until a decent squall comes through, and then take a rip out into the sound. Perfect :D

hey,

For wavesailing, margrets mainbreak will take a SE, and sometimes when it is blowing crappy light SE in Perth this can be the go. Gives the wind a real nice cross off direction.

Woodies can go off in an easterly.... well as gusty and ****ty as the easterlies are.
Northern side of NE and southern for SE.
The Southern side will have a bit of flat water with little half-knee high waves usually and its the bomb for freestyle practice. Kinda like chop hopping on the river but you're heading straight at them so get more air.
I used to really like Woodies at about 7am in summer in an easterly.... before I moved to Esperance where every diection goes off hehehehe

Agree with you ggf, rotto is the bomb, in any wind direction, especially in a SW breeze

Sorry. Woodman's Point, Coogee.

Wind is just as bad as on the river when it's east, but at least there's something to jump!

Guys, I have found Mandurah Estuary decent sailing in an easterly. Less gusty than Perth. The bigger the breeze, the bigger the chop! Launches from (left at) Miami store and further south (like Dawseville) are good value, but can be shallow for about 50m from shore on low tide. Certain times of year you'll need a weed fin too.
