Hi Elmo , I read this on gps-ss "... but Point Grey on the other side of the estuary has a good 500m run of relatively flat water"

I also read in the West that Port Bouvard had bought Pt Grey (for $92Mil) and said that it was a good investment as it was right opposite the Cut for launch owners. So presumably they intend to dredge those shallows so those launch owners can park their floating gin palaces right next to their overpriced sections (in the same article Pt.Bouvard boasted they have made 500% on their other developements).

Do you know anything about this?

Looks like anothor good speed spot will bit the dust. Do you remember the day when Robbie and Chris did 38+ in the same spot on slalom gear?

G'day Yoyo,

That was me who put that in there knowing some of the Perth crew would read it

Yeah I read about the development in the paper this week, may as well enjoy it whilst we can, with the Mandurah bypass going through over there it won't be long before the whole lots one big anal development.

Was quite surprised with how Pt Grey is at the moment as the estuary has been getting some major weed growth from us not having any big storms.

The point itself was pretty good and the run didn't have as much growth as Kiters or Novarah.

From the normal launch sites it's definately Weedy territory, but the PG is not to bad for slalom fins. You can launch from the southern side of the cut with a pointer, but it can be a problem getting back up wind if the wind drops out suddenly.

And yes I still remember when the Boy's came down and showed how it's done, way to much talent in that pack of villains. Still have the image of Robbi describing going for a nautical mile run over saying he thought it was getting a bit shallow so he just unhooked and kept the power on (Was great to see him at Cervantes with a big smile on).

Either way the with the forecasts and the Tides the way they are It's looking good for the PG strip for the next couple of days

could have done longer runs but wind wasn't ideal last night.

That was very clever Alby, so how far across each run was it?
And you went last night? was it a SW about 15-20 down there ?

I am impressed with how you can download your run and upload onto seabreeze, bloody brilliant.

G'day Mike,

It's only about 1km across that part of the estuary.

Yep the wind was about that down here according to BOM, don't actually know what it was on the estuary though.

The image comes from after downloading data from GPS and saving, you can then open GPX file in Google earth and have a squizz at where you were playing.

The image was mainly to show Yoyo how far onto the sand bar I was going.

The sandbar was nice and flat again for a fair distance, just lacking wind again, hopefully the 20-30 eventuates tomorrow, although I'm not holding my breathe.

Yes it is if you go close to the land, it's basically a limestone reef there.

100+m nth is no probs

Rocky?? I've only found mud and critters that nibble your toes even fairly close to the point. Have sailed across the sand/mud bank jutting out from Pt Grey at 34+ but you don't want to slow down! It looked less than 30cm deep.

Had a good run today, touch overpowered but fun none the less.

Didn't go to far onto the sandbank as it was a ridiculously low tide, still ended up around knee deep.

Can relate to the shallowness of it though can remember doing a few run with the fin dragging in the mud for steering, going into a gybe and getting bogged down in 8-10" of water

It's amazing though at the moment the west side of the estuary is absolutely chokers with weed but the point is fairly clean, still got to work up the courage for a slalom fin though, have to launch them from the sth side of the cut.
