one for the wave sailors.

I had a kite this arvo is the most amazing conditions, kind of a mid tide 12-18knts...bit light for me to get wave sailing gear out...but the point is....AMAZING WAVE SAILING SET UP NTH Wind making it cross shore.

it was super smooth for really long patches between decent to biggish size waves breaking long slow and clean, for a good wave sailor they probably would be getting 3-5 bottom turns in before moving on. A 'light/small' wave sailor probably would have killed out there today.

Not sure if it was just a lucky tide or swell, as often its on shore mush.. maybe it was a bit more N/NW...it worked until sunset.

Pretty special session, all time conditions, I will be checking it out next spring before the normal Mooloolaba run, so for wave sailing in Nth winds medium tide, be sure to check out Marcoola (Just down from the SLC)

I just realized this was posted in general...supposed to be Qld grrr...anyway..if your visiting!

Thanks JonesySail, a couple of guys on big kit (110/6.3) briefly got out at the Caloundra bar in what also appeared to be some nice waves, but the wind seemed to shift a little offshore or either drop and it was over at 3:45 pm. Locked in those details thanks mate!

Would of thought Nth would be patchy due to headland and buildings at Cal?

The thing about the Marcoola stretch is that the land is dead flat (air port and swamp!) so its a clear blow, even as it starts to swing off shore.

New Wave board on the way so looking forward to getting back into it.

Yes Jonesy you are right that the bar can get patchy . It can turn on in winter with a decent westerly as you probably knew already, but the tide / current can be tricky if you fall. Do you think Marcoola could be an option on a westerly?
