Looking to get around a 150ltr board to use as a loan board for family a friends that want to have a crack, but wouldnt mind still using it as a light wind board. Its going to have to be tough as to take the newby punishemnt (Plastic)?? But still get up and go with a decent size sail.

Any opions Bic Techno ? Go, etc

You can't go past a 'GO', foam padded deck, easy to learn on, and stable and fairly fast in mild-good winds, it was the board that got me hooked on the sport about 18mths ago!!!

The Techno's are good but they are a pain in the arse to fix if you ding them, there is no divinycell so the stryo compresses in a huge area if the mast is droppe don it really good.

If you don't mind some mods, anything will do. Get a "normal" 150L freeride real cheap, router a slot in the bottom centre for a finbox (small removeable centreboard) and glue a pool noodle on the nose to stop the newbies buggering it. Maybe a good knockaround for $300 ish?

paddy, if you want a light wind board for yourself, and something for your family to much around on, go for the starboard, GO, i have said this in every post, they are excellent. they have a layer of foam over the top for grip and protection. this means that you dont need to worry about the slams the boom and mast give it, (on my board it is thicker around the impact zone not to sure bout newer models) and when im out in 10 knots and on a 6.5 or 7.0 sail, im cruising at a nice speed, and even in the higher winds i like to put my 54cm fin on, and my 5.4 sail and im flying, it is an excellent board, i learnt on it, i advanced on it, and now i just love it
