Hey everyone, first time poster.
I have an early 90's O'Brian board with one of those default fins. I recently won a lot of 8 tuttle fins off of ebay, and would very much like to use them. Do you know of any ways to remove and replace the fin box to support a different type? Thanks for any information

Hi netphreak,
I have heard that there are converters out there, that will allow you to use a different fin type, but dont know if just rumour as I havent as yet seen one in use. I had an old Bic board with a US box, and rolled the fin, making it a virtual throwaway, so I cut the old box out - the board was plastic with white foam inside - and I epoxied a chinook Tuttle finbox in quite succesfully. You cant use polyester on the white foam as it dissolves it! Though to do this took quite q bit of mucking around, and added a bit of weight to am already not light board. You have to be careful about finbox alignment, and making it strong enough to take some considerable forces. Cheers, big-gazza.

Hi,

have a look at

boardlady.com/tuttlebox.htm

and

www.boardlady.com/jppowerbox.htm

If you were in the US you could send your board to Eva, but I think you that you can get the gist of what's required by taking a look at her website.

Cheers.

Thanks for that information. I figured there was something I could do, so now it seems I need to go looking for someone that has a throwaway board with a tuttle box on it...
