Im loking at getting a bigger sail to be predominatly used for freestyle or onshore wave sailing but i am a bit unsure of what size to get.
Ive currently got gaastra poisons 4.2, 4.7, and 5.4. I want to get something for freestyle use, on my 97ltr board. I am thinking of a 6.0 gaastra echo but im worried that it will be to close to the 5.4 poison.
Has anyone used the echo or other similar freestyle sails in this size and how do they compare to wave sails? Do they have less power or do they have more power. I remeber years ago freestyle sails were always very powerful but had little top end control, has this changed at all? I m after as much grunt as I can get in a 6.0 but also want alot of manauverability thus top end control doesnt really matter to much.

I don't know about gasstra but I have a naish session 5.3 and my next size up is my 6.2 naish boxer. The boxer is Kauli's freestyle and wave sail. I love using this sail on my 100lt freestyle and my 94lt crossover board. I have even used it on my 78lt DTL wave board. If you don't want naish... I think the general theory is that freestyle sails have more bottom end power/planing power lots of control but are not so good overpowered. Wave sails are all about control with a bit more top end control... Hope this helps.

why dont you look at something like a cross over sail, but get one that is more rated for free style than free ride/wave, that way you will get more top end controll than yoou would in a pure free style, but than that would meen your not going for dead freestyle,

Freestyle is gay. just get a grunty wave sail. Better for on-shore wavesailing anyway

Thanks Lanky that was pretty much the answer i was after, just needed to confirm that they still did what i wanted them too.

Good suggestion Jordo, but problem is I have a 97lt freetyle board and not really interested in freerding at all so the top end would be wasted on me wheras i would really be intersted in the freetsyle side.

Boris you must be gay if you think im going to use anything bigger than a 5.4 in waves (other than onshore)!
