Hi all, thinking of buying a freestyle board. Anyone got any advice on board size/volume for a 75kg sailor and which is the better brand to buy?

anything from any company since about 2005 should be alright.. 100L, should be about 240 long, any longer and its showing its age.. rememeber a freestyle board is just a real easy board to sail, with inboard straps, so there has not been much development in the last few years as far as lower level freestyle is concerenced(flakas spocks n sht)also dont use a plus 24 cm fin,

I concur...

I have a 2006 F2 Chilli (difficult to get in Australia) which I rate hugely.
JP Freestyle boards (or at least, the 2008 ones) look good.
RRD Twintip has rave reviews - I think a shop in Sydney that does loads of second-hand boards has one.

Anything that's dedicated FS and not too old, and not damaged/repaired (i.e. heavy) will do you fine... and remember, all that jazz everyone raves on about fins on here? Forget it - small and crap is gooood for FS :o)

<EDIT> Oh yeah, and I'm about the same weight as you and I sail 99 litres, which seems to work fine. Wouldn't want to go much smaller for a dedicated FS board.

I would deffinatly say 07 or later if you can afford it so modern shape and 100lt. If you often sail in lighter wind you could push it to a 110lt but 100lt is a great alround size. I am 72kg and have a 100lt as my freestyle board for the last 2 seasons. I would also put a 20cm or less fin on the must have for serious freestyle list. Makes learning sliding moves about 10 times easier.

I'm 75kg and am very happy with my 2005 JP Freestyle 109, with 5.5-7.0 sails. I've sailed the 100 as well, and that would be my pick if I had stronger winds more often. This is also a fine freeride board as well...very early planing and a good jumper. But not so great in heavy chop (none of the squared-off nose boards are.)
